Economy class
Turkish Technic partner, TSI
Aviation Seats (also partnered
with Turkish Airlines) has
developed a convincing new
seat model. The Epianka
economy class seat is initially
available on a linefit and retrofit
basis for the B737 MAX and A320
neo families, with B787, B777 and
A350 availability to follow, giving
airlines scope for consistency
of passenger experience across
a fleet, and potential fleet
efficiency gains in terms of
maintenance, operations and
parts commonality.
Epianka weighs 41.5kg fully
dressed and is recommended
at a pitch range of 30-39in.
Passenger comfort features
include a 17.43in width between
the armrests, a mechanically
operated four-way headrest,
a single tray table with 2in guide,
a lower literature pocket with
dividers – useful for holding
small items such as wallets and
smartphones – an optional
mechanically controlled
articulation mechanism /
cradle motion, and provision
for IFE displays up to 13.3in.
Other features include a
pancake electronics box
located under the seat pan to
give maintenance crews easy
access to the IFE system, and a
concealed seatback and dress
cover attachment.
Turkish Airlines is the first
carrier to fit Epianka – which
in another first is fitted to the
first Airbus A321neo with a Cabin
Flex configuration. The 162
economy class seats feature
12in widescreen IFE monitors.
AIRBUS AND RECARO
EXTENDING SFE SEATING
CONTRACT FOR A320
Recaro Aircraft Seating has been the exclusive
SFE (supplier-furnished-equipment) seat
supplier for the Airbus A320 family since
2016, with its 3530Swift economy class seat,
sales of which are already in excess of 20,000
units. Building on the relationship, Recaro is
supplementing its SFE product portfolio for the
A320 family with two additional seat types: the
3710Swift economy class model and the 4710Swift
business class model.
According to Recaro, the availability of two
classes of SFE seating for the A320 family as both
line-fit and retrofit can be especially beneficial for
start-up and low-cost airlines as well as aircraft
lessors, as it offers them a family of products to
choose from, with short market lead-times and
the latest generation of products. The SFE seats
are predefined, prequalified and precertified for
Airbus layouts and catalogue configurations,
which saves the time normally required for
individual product approval.
The global
seating market is
expected to grow at
a 11% CAGR from
2018-2023

Recaro enhances
sleeping comfort
Recaro Aircraft Seating has developed
three new comfort features for the
CL3710, designed to enable better body
posture and more changes of sleeping
positions, as well as to reduce pressure
points while sleeping.
The Abrazo Headrest gives extra
side support to the head, while the
upper and parts of the lower legs can
be supported by the Extended Seat
Bottom, which increases the seating
surface area and reduces pressure
points. The Flip Cushion helps to
support the lower lumbar area in the
cradle or sleeping position.
These sleeping features can be
ordered individually for the CL3710 seat
model, or in combination for generous
economy class sleeping comfort.
