COLLINS EVOLUTION
Collins Aerospace’s Evolution seat is claimed to be the first aircraft
seat to combine commercial first class seating with executive

aircraft seating, adopting the track-and-swivel articulations
found in many business jet seats and adding a deep recline
posture that reduces pressure points, making it particularly
suitable for anything from business class seating to super

first class suites.
Simplicity is often an element of luxury, and indeed in seats
with the optional electrically actuated/assisted setup, moving
from the TTL position to the Z-lounge or bed position requires
just a single touch of the articulation controller, which activates
the smooth triple roller system.
Further comfort features include articulating armrests, which
can drop to widen the sleeping surface, complemented by
the articulating six-way headrest, which can tilt to provide head
support and disappear into the backrest to help create a full-flat
sleeping surface. The extension seat pan can also lengthen the seat
surface to accommodate a range of occupant sizes, as does
the extendable legrest.

Jamco’s ‘Spread Your Wings’
design has a neat trick: a large
‘wing’ is created when two centre
seats are combined, a unique
space where passengers can
unwind. When two people are
travelling together in the centre
seats, they can lower the twostage
privacy divider to the same
height as the ‘super full-flat
zone’, so the couple can share a
luxurious flat space that is 2.5-
times wider than a single bed.
Aside from being a great space
in which to sprawl, the wing can
also be used as a family bed for
parents travelling with a baby, a
place to do yoga, a space to spread
out a board game, or if the door
option has been specified, it can
become a playroom for children.
In addition, the many ‘room
arrangements’ enabled by the

two-stage central divider make
it easier to meet diversifying
passenger needs, whether they
wish to relax in solitude, enjoy a
conversation, cuddle or play. These
are just some of the needs this
seat can fulfill.
Spread Your Wings is suitable
for all wide-body aircraft as a
four-abreast (1-2-1) ‘windowward
herringbone’ layout,
with aisle-facing centre seats
and window-facing outboard
seats, which enhances privacy
throughout the cabin without
high walls dividing the space.
Jamco has conducted tests for

complete the certification process
for the design once a launch
customer has been secured, with
a target of delivery within 18 to 24
months for the launch customer.
