INT ER IOR S I NNOVAT ION industry updates
2020 sees a new but familiar name enter the market. Sekisui
Kydex (formerly Sekisui SPI) may be a new brand name, but
it is business as usual for the aviation thermoplastics expert,
with a portfolio that includes the Crystal Cabin
award-winning Infused Imaging technology, and
the fully compliant FST product line, which includes
FST (opaque), FST 03 (pearlescent), FST CTL
(coloured translucent) and, new for this year, FST CLR (clear).
Sekisui Kydex is not focused solely on PVC-based thermoplastic
sheet, with its range also including products such as polycarbonate (PC)
materials and high-impact performance plastics (HIPPs).
Sekisui Kydex will continue the company’s work in helping to redefine the
customer experience through collaborative craftsmanship and rapid prototyping
at its appLab and designLab innovation centres. The company invites visitors to
experience this innovation first-hand, exploring the latest in 3D virtualisation
inside the designLab with X-Rite’s TAC Ecosystem, with the designLab team and
X-Rite experts on hand to help spark inspiration. Visitors can explore ‘what if?’
questions with the teams and leave with tangible, actionable ideas. They can
also use vivid colours, textiles, imagery, technology, and real-world examples
to create their own virtual prototypes.

BOEING INVESTS
IN DIGITAL CABIN
SOLUTIONS
HorizonX, the venture capital division
of Boeing, has made a strategic
investment in Immfly, a global inflight
digital services and IFE company
headquartered in Barcelona. The draw
of Immfly is that it has developed
a digital solution with the aim of
enabling airlines to remotely manage
onboard digital products and services
on all aircraft types, including IFE
content, flight information, advertising
and onboard sales.
Immfly is one of just four companies
outside the USA to join Boeing
HorizonX, a portfolio that invests in
technologies that its expert team
regards as having the potential to
disrupt aviation.
“Boeing’s strategic investment in
Immfly drives innovation across the
entire passenger journey,” said Brian
Schettler, senior managing director
for Boeing HorizonX Ventures.
“Immfly’s digital cabin solution is
fundamentally changing how airlines
around the world are engaging with
their passengers during flight,” added
Schettler.
