SUPPLIER S HOWCA SE
ith more than 80 years in the
quilting machine manufacturing
business, ABM has developed
a reputation for engineering excellence
at cost-effective prices, with a focus on
providing customer service that is second
to none. ABM offers a full line of quilting
machinery and accessories for buyers
of all types and skill levels – ranging
from industrial factories to professional
custom quilters and hobbyists.
ABM was founded as AB
Manufacturing in 1933 by Arthur
Schwarzberger. He developed a simple
sewing technique for quilting machines
that could cross over sewing lines and
refined this concept to include
mechanical track quilting machines for
comforters, bedspreads and mattresses.
Schwarzberger’s sons became
involved in the business and
fuelled its growth, expanding
the type of equipment
manufactured and the
markets serviced. When
Schwarzberger sadly
passed, his sons Barry and
Michael assumed full
responsibility for the company.
COMPUTERISED QUILTING
ABM began harnessing high-tech
methods during the 1980s, including
computerised quilting, which was
patented. Michael’s son, Neal, began
working for the company and the two
developed a computerised quilting
machine named the XL, plus several
automated machines.
In 1995, ABM began the development
of a new vertical quilting machine called
the Robo Quilter, which was also
patented. After its introduction to the
market in 1997, sales soared.

The department strives for 100%
customer satisfaction, whether by

Under Neal Schwarzberger’s
leadership, the company continues to
operate by the same principles and
values upon which it was founded.
“ABM’s standards are sky-high, but the
company consistently meets them, all
while striving to improve,” he comments.
“As a result, ABM is raising the industry
standard again and again.”
