automotive power systems has
created the need for a high-power,
high-current load capable of
superimposing a swept frequency
AC component that will rapidly
expose and identify resonances. The
DC emulator can emulate such
constant power loads with
controllable bandwidth up to 20kHz.
The development of new
technologies in batteries plays an
important role in the transition away
from non-renewable sources of
energy. It requires high accuracy
and precision testing to reliably
predict the lifetime of batteries
within a short period of time, which
has led D&V to develop research
with university programs to design
its battery cell tester. The testing
capability allowing fully automatic
switching between three di erent
test modules results in faster and
more accurate testing.
By combining cycler capabilities
with a coulombic measurement
module up to 10ppm and 200kHz
frequency EIS module, D&V
Electronics provides an innovative
method to determine important
battery cell parameters.

and durability built in. The ability to
easily move, modify, add displays,
and increase test controls are all
included for today’s most intuitive
motor and inverter testing.
The trend towards the use of
e-axle drive systems incorporates
the electric motor, power
electronics, as well as transmission,
clutch, engine or wheels in many
uses. With over 10 years of testing
experience in hybrid and electric
vehicles components, D&V
Electronics understands the
systems over time. Research
conducted in collaboration with
universities in multiple countries is
providing D&V with new
perceptions and faster results.
Research has led to the
being adaptable to test a highspeed
motor on the same dyno
system. Another dual capability
developed by D&V is the capability
motor and a 20,000rpm motor on
the same test machine, meaning
and technologies.
New requirements to test
inverters without the expense of
needing complete dyno systems has
led to the development of motor and
DC emulator systems for electric
and hybrid vehicles.
D&V’s E-Motor Emulator is able
to replicate the four-quadrant
electrical output of a three-phase
synchronous motor, or an induction
motor/generator under user defined
parameters. With controlled speed,
torque, temperature, and motor
positioning feedback, it can thereby
simulate an electric drive train. The
machine’s motor emulators can
recirculate power between the
emulator and inverter under test,
eliminating the cost and complexity
of recirculating power back to the
battery cell testing, resulting in
improved battery measurement to
better estimate SoH and SoC
combinations for hybrid and electric

to advance with research to provide
development of testing systems that
can test an e-axle system as well as
to test a high torque, low-speed bus
