WHAT’S NEW AGRITECHNICA 2019
New award for
OEM suppliers
THIS YEAR’S AGRITECHNICA, TAKING PLACE IN HANOVER, NOVEMBER
10-16, WILL SEE THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE FIRST EVER WINNERS
OF A BRAND NEW COMPETITION FOR TIER 1 SUPPLIERS
Readers of iVT will all be
keenly aware of the essential
role that Tier 1 suppliers play
in the process of designing and
building new off-highway
vehicles. Now the expertise and
innovation displayed in this
sector is being recognized with
a brand new award being
launched to coincide with the
biennial Agritechnica
agricultural expo, which next
takes place November 10-16,
2019, at the Hanover Exhibition
Grounds in Germany.
Focusing particularly on
innovative systems and
components for farm
machinery – including tractors,
harvesters, and crop protection
and fertiliser application
equipment – the new
innovation award is being
introduced by Agritechnica
organizers the DLG (German
Agricultural Society).
The trophy recognizes the
fact that OEMs are increasingly
reliant on Tier 1 suppliers when
designing and building new
machines or updating existing
models. Innovative electronics,
engines, drivetrain technology,
cabs and power lifts, hydraulics
systems, as well wear parts
along with spare and
replacement parts need to be
available off-the-shelf or under
just-in-time supply
arrangements to OEM
assembly plants.
“The new trophy is aimed at
exhibitors taking part in the
Systems & Components
exhibition area at
Agritechnica 2019, and
should attract the
attention of development
engineers and
purchasing
professionals
working for
agricultural
machinery
manufacturers,”
14 iVTInternational.com June 2019
says Agritechnica project
manager Marie Servais.
“This is a complement to the
existing Agritechnica Innovation
awards, which will continue
to be open to entries from
companies developing
solutions that can be directly
purchased by the farmers.”
The winners of the 2019
Systems & Components
Trophy – Engineers’
Choice award, will be
selected by a jury
consisting of
development
engineers for
farm machinery
manufacturers

SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
A new feature at Agritechnica 2019 will be Smart Future
Farming – Protecting Yield and Nature. The special focus will
consider the opportunities arising from – as well as increase
awareness of – the innovations being developed to support
farmers in providing ever-more sustainable food production
processes. The new initiative is aligned with Agritechnica’s
guiding theme for 2019, Global Farming – Local Responsibility,
which has been chosen to point visitors towards a sustainable
future for agriculture.
