Multifunction
armrest
With its 225MA midi
modular armrest, Elobau is
offering a new modular
concept for multifunctional armrests.
The concept allows mobile machinery
manufacturers to configure an armrest
for their respective operating
machines, featuring only the desired
functions. The new product
bridges the gap between seriallyproduced
standard products, and
time-consuming, expensive
custom-made solutions.
“All operating elements available in
the modular system come from
successful developments in recent
years, which means they are fieldtested
in terms of design, ergonomics
and function,” says Eduard Zang,
product manager at Elobau.
The system comprises of five
modules, each with numerous
variants. It includes the joysticks and
hand throttle module, armrest and
storage
compartment
module, operating
unit, hitch wheel and
potentiometer, as well as
the connector panel module. For
vehicle manufacturers, the modular
armrest is a plug-and-play device.
It is connected to the vehicle via
the standardized CAN protocol,
SAE J1939 and standard industry
plug connections.
The 225MA midi modular armrest
was designed in accordance with
the so-called ‘Mother Regulation’
167/2013 and Agricultural
Performance Level (AgPLc) in
accordance with standard ISO 25119.

Heavy-duty seating
At Bauma 2019, Swedish
seat manufacturer Be-Ge
Seating (formerly Be-Ge
Industri), launched a new heavy-duty
seat. The seat Be-Ge 3730.19,
developed in conjunction with
a major OEM customer and
based on the well-known
Be-Ge 3000-series, features
heavy-duty suspension
that has been used in
forestry machinery for
years. The seat
suspension has
a stroke of 180mm
(7in) and can hold
the weight of
a person of up
to 210kg
(463lb).
The
suspension, with pendulum arms, is
available with an adjustable shock
absorber or with a semi active system,
including special sensors for
pothole detection.
“The demands from the tough
environment in forestry and the aim to
create the best seat for the heavy duty
market have resulted in a popular and
durable seat that has echoed into the
off-road market,” says Ronny Nilsson,
marketing and product manager at
Be-Ge Seating Division.
Other products that were
showcased at Bauma Munich included
an adjustable horizontal damping with
brackets for armrest installations, as
well as the Be-Ge 38V-series with a
V-shaped seat cushions and wide seat
tilt adjustment for cranes and
container handling.

Combo plugs and inlets
Amphenol’s ExcelMate CC
(charging coupler) product
line, available in Europe via
TTI Europe, includes charging cable
plugs and vehicle inlets.
Compliant with IEC-62193, the
high-performance IEC Combo Plug
connectors meet all the necessary
standards and are available in 65A,
125A and 200A DC versions. These
mechanically robust connectors have
been designed to withstand over
10,000 mating cycles and insertion
forces over 100N. They are available in
every requested cable length.
The IEC Combo vehicle inlets are
designed to be used for 32A or 63A AC
charging and
60A, 125A or
200A DC
charging.
The two
power
contacts
DC+ and DC- are monitored
by temperature sensors to avoid the
risk of overheating while charging is
taking place. The inlet can be supplied
with two different electronic locking
actuators for 12V or 24V to prevent
the plug connector being accidentally
removed during the charging process.
All inlets are equipped with protection
caps to prevent water ingress up to
a level of IP44.
These high current IEC Combo
vehicle inlets are particularly useful
for the designers and manufacturers
of off-highway agricultural and
construction equipment as well
as commercial vehicles such as trucks
and buses, but they may also be
relevant for manufacturers of
electric vans, sports cars and
recreational vehicles where fast
DC charging is required.

New wire-actuated encoders
Robust, compact and
flexible: an impossible
combination? Not for the
new SG61 and SG121 wire-actuated
encoders from Siko. There are many
reasons why this sensor manufacturer
from Germany has made a name for
itself as a specialist in the field of
wire-actuated sensors. Its extensive
experience in developing compact
piston sensors, acquired over 30
years, is evident in the multitude of
small details in its products’ designs.
The new wire-actuated encoders in
the SG61 and SG121 series reflect this.
The SG61 is ideal for measuring
lengths up to 6m; the SG121, up to
12m. The sensors impress not only
because of their compact size, but also
because of their sturdiness and
flexibility. They can be used in
temperatures between -40°C to 80°C
(-40°F to 176°F). They are also highly
resistant to high shock and vibration,
dirt, dust and water.
The flexible 58mm flange system in
both wire-actuated encoders can be
used with almost any interface. The
customer can select the interface
appropriate for the application,
whether it’s an incremental interface
such as HTL or TTL, or an absolute
interface such as analog, SSI,
CANopen, SEA J1939, CANopen Safety,
Fieldbus or Ethernet.
