When it comes to video
surveillance sports stadia still
have to make compromises
to monitor its large spatial
environments and
surrounding areas, such as car parks.
To help capture completely new views
of spatial contexts, as well as improve
situational awareness and control, new
technology has been created to combine
images of multiple video sensors within
one camera.
The Panomera W 3600 created by German
manufacturer Dallmeier, enables incidents
and events to be viewed from several
perspectives, and situations can be captured
through 360-degree views in high resolution.
This ‘intelligent stitching’ is provided by
software that has matured over eight years
of development. The technology allows for
a completely different approach for the
surveillance of stands where a few dozen
cameras are sufficient for high-resolution
monitoring of even the largest stadia.
The new multifocal sensor system has set
out to enable customers to optimally control
their indoor and outdoor spaces with
minimum personnel and cost expenditure.
The cameras have been used to monitor the
safety of spectators in the stands of many of
the world’s largest soccer stadia, including
the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia where nine
out of 12 venues used at the tournament
employed the technology.
An essential feature of the camera is a
simplification in planning, implementation
and deployment. The innovative Mountera
mounting concept offers installers a variety
of options, from a one-way handle for
removal and transport, to an integrated
‘bubble protection’ that remains on the
system until the final mounting, and also a
Quick-Lock system for one-man assembly. In
addition, only one key size is required for the
entire installation. Different mounting
elements allow mast, wall and ceiling
mounting and flexible use of the cameras in
all stadium areas for plug-and-play efficiency.
