Last chance to enter
The Comms Business Awards are open for entry and the market is busy gathering testimonials, recounting their
great deals from 2019 and demonstrating customer ROI. Make sure you get your entries in before the deadline.
FROM THE JUDGES
is month we spoke to Lucy Green about
her involvement in the Comms Business
Awards over the last ve years. As a long-time
judge Lucy is in a prime position to give some
valuable, if cutting, advice to those businesses
sitting on the fence about entering.
Lucy Green, MD of Larato commented
“ ere is so much activity going on in the
Channel it is more important than ever that
people enter these awards to have a chance
at getting the recognition they deserve.
Technology has become central to solving
business problems and the Channel is
delivering solutions to these problems really
well. is is certainly something to celebrate
and is great for the market.”
Often we hear from companies that don’t
enter the awards on the basis they are di cult
to win. We put this to Lucy.
“Yes, they are hard to win. But that is what
makes them so valuable. If you are sitting there
thinking what is the point then you need to
get a grip! If you are proud of what you have
done in 2019 then you should be investing the
time to tell the market and give yourself a shot
at winning an award which could have a huge
impact on your business.”
TOP TIPS ON ENTERING
DO
• Get to the point quickly – e judges
are reading hundreds of entries during the
process, wa e is the enemy
• Stick to the rules – e entry guidelines are
there for a reason, try not to go o -piste
• Don’t provide things which are not asked
for – Everyone likes a pretty picture right?
Wrong! Entries are based on facts given
NOT additional material which doesn’t back
the entry up
• Provide clear ROI for the customer – At
the end of the day this is why the Channel
exists. Make sure you tell the judges how
your work has impacted the customer’s
business
DON’T
• Use old case studies – If we can nd more
interesting information about your company
on your own website then this is lazy.
• Over-egg – Make sure you are truthful
with your claims. If you get carried away it
immediately becomes obvious, our judges
can spot a ‘porkie’ from a mile away
