Offering a helping hand
Since lock down has been announced and
enforced, the entire Simwood team have
been working remotely. As everyone is in
this together, some more technical than
others! we are in a position that can help
& enable during these difficult times.
We wanted to see if we could provide
something of use to the community and
beyond. We created Simwood Meet, a
fully encrypted, 100% open source video
conferencing solution powered by Jitsi. You
can use it free of charge, please pass it on
to anyone you feel might be struggling, you
can access it here: meet.simwood.com
We have used this substantially over the
past few weeks and hope others find it as
helpful as we have.
SimCon3
At the start of March, we hosted our
third annual event -SimCon3, with some
amazing speakers; you’ll be able to find
these talks on our Vimeo channel. We
were delighted that so many customers
and colleagues were able to join and take
the opportunity to hear about some of the
new products mentioned above, whilst
learning from some of the industries best
speakers on the latest best practices, as
well as getting an update on Simwood,
including Partner SIP trunks, Microsoft
Teams integration for Simwood Partner
and our unique Wholesale / Hosted PBX
Hybrid offer, to name a few. We were also
able to recognise the hard work of some
Sipcentric Softphone
We announced the deployment of our
Sipcentric Softphone at SimCon earlier
this year. The softphone is the mobile
version of our Communicator app built
using some of the same secret sauce
whilst going on to provide a great user
experience. Huge credit goes to our
development team who spent so much
time perfecting this app. There are
thousands of softphone apps available in
apps stores today, so we wanted to create
an app that is not just a softphone. The
app is tightly integrated with all platform
features like busy lamp field, shared
contacts, visual voicemail, transfer/hold
and many more. Some of the other things
you’re also able to do are:- access call
recordings from your call history without
having to log into the portal, you can make
changes to your extension; whether it’s
changing the destination for the call or
turning your out-of-hours notification on or
off. We’ve designed the app so that users
no longer have to log into the portal to
make any changes.
For partners and resellers, the best
part of this app is that it is completely
rebrandable. Partners are able to choose
to have the full rebandable package which
means the app would be published under
your name in any app stores, have your
icon and branding and customers wouldn’t
know we were behind it. We have a few
different options here to suit.

at Simwood did such a great job, and we
were so proud of how the event turned
out, which was massively down to the hard
work from our team. We encouraged those
in the industry to nominate and recognise
those that give back to the community, our
awards are not for self promotion or vanity,
we believe they are there to promote and
recognise those who wouldn’t normally
nominate themselves, those unsung
heroes that humbly and selflessly deliver
consistently, so please don’t be shy in
nominating anyone you feel deserves the
credit. There is only one rule, you cannot
nominate yourself.
What’s next for us
We’ve got lots to do as always, we are still
expanding into the US market at a rapid
pace, this is still a core focus for us, as
well as pushing our Hosted VoIP platform
to be best in breed focusing on new
features that add value. Working remotely
has changed the way our team is currently
working, but hasn’t delayed our ambition
or productivity. Here are some of the
