Late Drama?
BY IAN HUNTER
IT’S BEEN THREE years in the
waiting. No, not Brexit but
our holiday in the Maldives
at the end of October with all
our mates. Sometimes I think
there’s been as much drama as
Brexit getting it all organised
but little did we know when we
put pen to paper and paid our
deposits all that time ago that
we had picked one heck of a
time to be out of the country.
So I wish you all well from
beaches of Meeru, and no,
I won’t really be giving a
monkeys about any challenges
in getting home either. Call
me complacent and I’ll stand
up and ask what kind of
complacent you would like me
to be – hard deal, soft deal, no
deal and remain – all forms of
complacent are available where
I am going.
Meanwhile, before I go, the
latest news is that Sterling has
risen against the Euro and the
US Dollar on news that we are
going to get a deal. It’s here
that I have to report that the
queue at the foreign exchange
desk at Tesco’s in Andover
was longer than that for a Take
That concert with Ed Sheeran
supporting and the Rolling
Stones as the warm up band.
Snaking back to the Winchester
by-pass it was.
Tomorrow that queue could
be tumbleweed with fewer
members than the David
Cassidy fan club.
In a nutshell, BT shares rose
30p, Vodafone and TalkTalk up a
penny or two, Gamma was down
but what a performance from
the Newbury crew this year to
date.
