WATER WORKS Aircraft washing remains a niche sector yet one that brings
manifold benefi ts to the user, notes the Editor.
“F or Riveer, 2019 has been a very
busy year in terms of the aviation
wash and clear water rinse side,”
states Je Rowan, Director Military
Programs at Riveer Environmental.
“CWRS (clear water rinse/wash systems)
installations took place in a number
of locations around the globe, with
additional systems booked for future
installation.” Aircra wash systems
are seeing good traction as well, with
Riveer unveiling both the Wingman hot
water hangar wash skid and a prototype
deployable wash cart, the ACDS, which
is now undergoing testing down at Fort
Campbell. “We have made improvements
to the programme and the hardware on
our aircra clear water rinse systems that
are allowing for better control of the water
delivery as well as better water recovery
and management.”

Aerowash, with success in
Asia and the Middle East, has

bespoke helicopter wash system at Fort
Campbell that uses high e ciency hot
water boilers to provide hot water for the
aircra wash system installed there. is
was a unique system in that Riveer sited
the hardware (two hot water aircra -
safe wash systems, a high volume foam
delivery system and an aircra -safe
water cannon) outside of the hangar in a
modi ed ISO container. All utilities enter
the hangar through an insulated, custom
fabricated passage, while powered hose
reels and a remote panel allow the system
to be controlled from the hangar. is

Another busy year
Last year was also a very busy time for
Aerowash, relates Niklas Adler, the
company’s Managing Director. “On the
environmental within the aviation sector.
Rowan continues: “ e vast majority of
our aviation business was in the military
sector, split almost evenly between
foreign and domestic customers. On the
commercial side, our wash bay and wash
booth systems continue to draw a lot of
interest for component washing tasks and
we see this segment as an opportunity
for us in the future, using aircra -safe
and speci c equipment, and not o -theshelf
options. Many of these o -the-shelf
solutions end up doing more harm than
good and o en exceed manufacturer
limits for water application. At this point,
our 2020 production schedule is lling fast
as well, so I would say some of the military
is embracing the bene ts of proactive
corrosion mitigation and stepping up
their e orts in this area – but there is a lot
more work on our part to be done in the
education and best practice arena.”
