Located in the Ruhr metropolitan
area, the airport has ideal transport
connections and a large catchment area.
Thanks to the major renovation of the
terminal, traveling from Dortmund Airport
will be even more convenient, flexible
and relaxed for crew members and
passengers alike.
In 2019, more than 2.7 million
passengers visited Dortmund Airport
as part of their journey. The airport
thus reached a new record number
of passengers. With a growth rate of
over 19%, the airport is the fastest
growing airport in Germany. With its
disproportionate growth, Dortmund Airport
has also made the leap into the top 10
largest airports in Germany. This year,
the airport expects to maintain its record
levels, although the aviation industry as a
whole is anticipating a slight decline in the
number of passengers.
A separate terminal is available for
business, private and sports traffic. The
general aviation terminal (GAT) is a short
distance from the car park and the apron.
Business and private travelers save a lot
of time at Dortmund Airport. This is also
thanks to the comprehensive and fast
service offered to all customers. Various
maintenance companies on site also
guarantee aircraft maintenance around
the clock.
The autonomous check-in area
provides passengers and aircraft crews
with the necessary convenience and a
modern infrastructure. It includes security,
customs and passport checks, the GAT
traffic control centre for the registration
and accounting of flights, and a lounge
with a conference table and briefing
facilities for pilots. Current weather data
can be retrieved and printed with an
available system.
From March 2020, business and
private travelers will enjoy flying via
Dortmund Airport even more. Dortmund
Airport has invested in the modernization
of the GAT. For the customers this means
even more comfort, more flexibility and
extended service. Pilots have a new
lounge at their disposal, where they can

and quiet. Conference rooms will soon
be available for meetings. In the future,
business travelers can thus hold meetings
immediately upon arrival, without having to
waste time traveling to a new conference
venue. Crews can also use the new
facilities to coordinate before flights.
The major GAT conversion is not
only accompanied by an expansion
of the existing premises but also
by a modernization of the existing
infrastructure. In addition to a modernized
restroom facility, crews and passengers
will soon have access to a new kitchen.
The GAT at Dortmund Airport offers crews
and passengers optimal conditions for
their journey.
