ART DECO
INSPIRATION
Constant Aviation’s design team worked with the customer
to understand their requirements for the cabin. “Design
concepts are derived from translating a client’s personal
style, interests and preferences to a cabin environment,”
says McCool. “The design team gets to know the client
through conversation – learning what is important to
them, what activities they enjoy, their personality, likes
and dislikes – and based on those insights selects
distinctive materials and accessories to create a space
that is exclusively theirs.”
The main inspiration was art deco, a decorative style of
the 1920s and 1930s that is therefore associated with the
golden age of flight. “Art deco merged exotic styles from
across the globe and featured rare and expensive material
such as ebony and ivory,” says McCool. “It was one of the
first truly international styles.”
Art deco’s bold geometric shapes, colours and luxurious
appointments were the foundation for the design, although
it was also important to ensure the cabin felt timeless.
“Our artisans blended hints of glamour, rich materials
and intricate patterns with modern styles, features and
functionality,” says McCool.
The two most obvious results of the art deco inspiration
are the one-off elaborate inlays on the doors and credenza
and the custom carpet, created by Scott Group based on its
Gotham II pattern with silk.
