onboard chargers. A lighter, more
simplified vehicle platform is now
feasible. Premium EV real estate can
be saved for additional technology,
or larger battery capacities. Rectifier
Technologies’ core development
goal was to design a charger that
makes this possible.
The 11kW DC is designed for
overnight charging in homes with
3-phase AC supplies. It strikes a
balance between e iciency and
reliability as it is almost 60% faster
than the commonly used 7kW AC
charger, and homes cannot support
the next available 24kW DC charger.
Another key development
consideration is the fact that the
adoption of EVs is expected to reach
55 million vehicles in 2025 (IEA). At
this rate, it is not possible for the
existing grid infrastructure to
support the growing load of owners
charging their vehicles, particularly
at peak electricity usage hours. To
overcome the issues of grid load
management, Rectifier Technologies
will be integrating bi-directional
capabilities with its 11kW DC charger
by 2020. This will allow electricity
from the EV battery to be returned
to the grid (V2G Chademo) and with
careful control, EV charging can be
e iciently balanced throughout a
24-hour period.

“Our 11kW DC charger was
engineered to meet the changing
needs of an electric future. We
understand the rapid changes the
industry is facing, and we are
prepared to address them. With
the rapid uptake of electric vehicles
in the market we’re also excited
to launch a new way of charging
FORM AND FUNCTION
With a slimline design that befits a modern
home, the charger can be wall or pole
mounted. It is suited for spaces with lowprofile
wall mounts or narrow spaces such as
garages, carports, shopping centers and office
buildings. It also offers a simple and costeffective
installation process as the unit is
simply hooked onto a bracket that is mounted
on the wall and clipped in
at home. Our bi-directional
technology is expected to be ready
by 2020,” says Yanbin Wang, CEO
of Rectifier Technologies.
Rectifier Technologies has the
advantage of over 26 years of
experience and a global reach,
which allows for collaborative
business opportunities and bespoke
support. It has partnered with
experts across various industries
including e-mobility solution
providers to meet the changing
needs of our electric future.
