New battery management sensor family
In the coming years, one of the
electric vehicle industry’s greatest
challenges will be battery
system management. Limiting
fast charging heat dissipation
of the battery is crucial, and
improved battery management
through better charge accuracy
(SOC) is key.
Life Energy Motion (LEM) is a
leading expert in automotive and
industry current measurement,
and has been developing cuttingedge
solutions for its customers for
nearly half a century.
LEM has now introduced its
latest, best-in-class automotive
battery management sensor
family. Based on LEM’s unique
contact-less fl uxgate technology,
the CAB family offers high
performance with ultra-low offset
on a wide current measurement
range (up to +/-1,500A). In the
calculation of SOC, the offset has
an important impact on Amp hour
counting – the lower the offset, the
better the SOC accuracy. LEM’s
fl uxgate-based CAB technology
offers the lowest integrated offset
error (<10mA).
The CAB family offers a number
of enhanced features. The CAB
500-1500 provides increased
current range (+/-500A and
+/-1,500A with 0.5% accuracy).
The CAB SF 500-1500 is safety
function version ASIL-ready for
ISO26262 application (CAB 500
is ASIL B-ready, CAB 1500 is ASIL
C-ready). The CABT SF 500-1500
features temperature output.
