THE SAFETY AND SPEED OF DRILLING EQUIPMENT AND EXCAVATORS
HAS BEEN IMPROVED THANKS TO NEW MULTICOUPLINGS
The use of earth-moving machines requires
a lot of attention from the operators, both
to guarantee their own safety and to keep the
equipment at the top of their performance. These two
objectives are linked together since the correct use of
hydraulic systems and periodic maintenance prevent
malfunctions and accidents that are harmful to both
machine and worker.
The situation is further complicated in sectors such as
earth-moving, where drilling equipment and excavators
require quick changes of attachments and auxiliary
equipment in complete safety. How can the efficiency of
quick connect and disconnect operations of multiple
lines be improved while maintaining safety standards?
Experience
Thanks to its 60 years of experience, Stucchi has
developed several solutions to easily connect and
disconnect multiple lines concurrently. Each one of
Stucchi’s multicoupling solutions is the answer to an
operator’s problem.
Their design combines a cam mechanism with
flat-faced valves and special seals to avoid dirt inclusion.
This allows attachment-change operations to be carried
out without leakage or contamination, and to clean the
surfaces efficiently when necessary.
Multicoupling systems enjoy all these advantages
and at the same time can couple or decouple multiple
lines simultaneously, with a considerable advantage in
terms of rapidity and safety.
Connections
With multicouplings the connection is made through
a lever that allows the coupling and decoupling
between a fixed and a mobile plate, thus connecting
simultaneously all the hydraulic lines. They can do this in
the presence of residual pressure and without running
the risk of mistakenly connecting different hydraulic
lines between them.
All Stucchi multicouplings are provided with a QR
code sticker, linking to the Stucchi Group website, where
usera can find technical information about the product.
Since 1960, Stucchi has been committed to finding
innovative solutions that allow those who work with
quick couplings to do so quickly, efficiently and safely.
As such Stucchi’s multicoupling systems are perfect for
earth-moving applications.
Ideally suited
Each multicoupling system boasts a lever system that
reduces the force required to connect multiple lines, also
RIGHT AND BELOW:
Stucchi’s plate solution
can easily connect 11/2in
lines, here with the
reverse configuration
of the lever system
in presence of residual pressure in the circuit. The cam
systems come with a safety lock, for complete safe
connections and disconnections. Each has a safety
system to avoid falling during the disconnection. There
is also minimal risk of fluid leakage in the environment
and air and dirt inclusion reduced at minimum. The
couplings are mounted on the plates with threaded
rings or Seeger rings, facilitating installation and
replacement. Lastly the compact dimensions do not
create bulk in the execution of the operations.
New series
The cam and lever system are also useful when the lines
to connect are large, and involve big forces. For this
Stucchi’s engineers have developed the brand-new
multicoupling series that Stucchi is presenting to the
market: the BM2 family, created to easily connect one
1½in size line and minimise the operator effort under
difficult conditions of pressure and environment.
This family of solutions is composed of two identical
products except for the orientation of the cams and
lever system in order to increase manoeuvrability
according to the machine they are mounted on:
BM2 1G has a standard orientation of the lever (going
upwards to connect the couplings), while the lever of
the BM2 1G V01 has to go downwards to perform the
connection to be fitted on excavator booms.
Solutions
With this new introduction in its multicouplings range,
Stucchi is able to offer different solutions to the needs
of earth-moving equipment manufacturers and
operators: the DP multicouplings are ideal to connect
from two to six lines, from 3/8in to 1in coupling size
within a body in aluminium with hard oxidation
treatment. The GR series can connect up to 10 lines
(maximum coupling size 1in)with a brass body with
nickel plating for more corrosive environments.
Meanwhile the brand-new BM series is specifically
design to connect one big hydraulic line of 1½in,
minimising the operator effort under difficult
conditions of pressure and environment.
In addition, Stucchi’s product development
department is focused on introducing various other
multi systems with further configuration possibilities
and other extra features. iVT
