THE DEMANDS OF TODAY’S CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY MEAN
THAT RUGGED YET HIGH-QUALITY HMIs ARE REQUIRED
With today’s highly sophisticated construction
and industrial vehicles it is essential to acquire
and control data in order to optimise vehicle
functionality. Makersan is fulfilling this need by
creating and developing rugged yet high-tech
interfaces for high-end vehicles.
Makerson’s HMI screen brightness level of
1000 knits assures readability even under direct
sunlight. The screens come with two
dimensions to meet a wide variety of customer
needs; a 800x480 pixel high-resolution
seven-inch display and 480x272 pixel high
resolution 4.3in display. Both HMIs offer inbuilt
sensors that adjust the light intensity of backlights
and function lights according to the brightness of the
environment. An integrated 85dB buzzer can be used
as an additional warning to the operator.
Versatile
Makersan’s seven-inch HMI has a sleek and compact
design, can be mounted horizontally or vertically, and
integrated in either standalone or dashboard mounting.
The 4.3 inch keypad comes with four keys integrated on
the HMI for quick menu access. Both are extremely
versatile HMIs for a wide range of mobile applications
with two CANbus J1939 & CANopen networks and
14 configurable analog/digital/frequency/resistive
inputs and outputs. Both are ready for Stage V and
Tier 4 applications and can be programmed with
Makcon. Icons, colours, indicators, time and interface
language can be configured by the user. Less than two
seconds of booth time ensures immediate readiness.
Casing provides IP67 protection. Over-voltage and
reverse polarity protection are also provided.

Rugged
In order to meet demanding working
conditions, during the development phase
each HMI device is tested numerous times
in extreme conditions. As a result, operating
temperatures between 30°C and +85°C
can be achieved.
The rotary keypad manipulator comes
with several rugged features including the
aforementioned over-voltage, reverse
polarity, UV and IP67 protection. The rotary
knob has RGB LED ring lighting for direction
indication. In addition to push options, a
pull action for simple navigation has been
patented. There are two options for the
rotary keypad with six keys for short cut
icons and without keys for a compact
assembly profile.
Both devices can communicate through
CANopen and Can J1939 protocols and
have gone through rigorous tests to ensure
best quality. iVT
