steer feature on the SmartTrack is also new,

customers’ requirements and strive to make
farming more efficient.”
Components
This latest generation Genesis T8 series has been
developed in-house with New Holland
manufacturing the majority of key components.
The parts made externally are mostly found in
the cab, which is also a brand-new nerve centre
redesigned for the operator.
“We manufacture most of the major
components in-house and by doing this we can
control quality,” said Redman. “The engine is of
course made in-house. The front axles are either
specified as a fixed or a suspended unit option,
and again these are produced by us. In terms of
the driveline, this could either be a full powershift
or CVT gearbox produced in our very own plant.
It will be the smaller items like hydraulic pumps,
28 iVT International Off-Highway 2020
seat and tires which we don’t manufacture.
Regarding the tire option, we would fit a branded
choice to meet the customer request.”
New Holland prides itself on the redeveloped
Genesis T8 series cab and has added additional
features to aid the operator in everyday work.
“The cab includes a new suspension system
which is semi active,” says Redman. “One of their
main developments is an armrest with the new
Intelliview 12 screen. This is an Android-based
screen which gives tablet-like functionality. As
previously, the tractor has cameras running into
the screen with a front camera mounted in the
grille which gives a 180° viewing angle. The rear
camera is mounted on the cab pillar so that when
in reverse the camera automatically pops up on
the cab screen. We have reduced the buttons and
switches inside the cabin by 17%. The new cab’s
greatest advance is in technology and data
processing, connecting the tractor to the farm
office and to the dealer network.”
There are eight buttons on the armrest
multifunction handle which are all configurable.
The customer can select which application they
would like to assign to those buttons. The new
Genesis T8 also offers many power outlets and
USB connections including a power socket
mounted inside the left hand storage box.
“We have thought of everything,” says Redman.
“There is even a rechargeable LED torch mounted
inside the cab to help the operator to their home
on dark nights. A cool box can be fitted if
required and a remote fob promotes tractor
security. It has a remote locking option too.”
Development
New Holland has created the new Genesis T8 by
testing prototypes and believes that tractor
development is a continuous program. As new
technologies emerge New Holland strives to stay
ahead of the game. This latest series is a result of
feedback from customers plus hours of testing
“WE HAVE REDUCED THE BUTTONS AND
SWITCHES INSIDE THE CABIN BY 17%. THE NEW
CAB’S GREATEST ADVANCE IS IN TECHNOLOGY
AND DATA PROCESSING, CONNECTING THE TRACTOR
TO THE FARM OFFICE AND TO THE DEALER NETWORK”
