IT UPDATE
IN A FLA H
The cargo community may be slow to adopt changing methods of working but its
reliance on IT cannot be ignored. Here, Lesley Cripps of Cargo Flash, explains how one
particular application is helping the sector.
Cargo Flash Infotech has been serving the cargo aviation
industry for over ten years and in that period it has
implemented a state-of-the art IT solution to many leading
airlines and cargo handlers around the world.
“The Next Generation Systems by Cargo Flash are known
to be innovative and feature-packed solutions for the entire
spectrum of cargo aviation business,” explains Cripps. “Our nGen
system enables the streamlining and management of operational
processes; it also boosts effi ciency and can increase revenue while
at the same time it cuts down on work duplication and fi nancial
leakages.” Cargo Flash is said to now be handling in excess of
1.5m courier and air waybills per month, together with more
than 4.5m message exchanges between its customers.
In today’s era of digitisation, there is a majority of stakeholders
in the air cargo industry who haven’t been able to embrace the
technology transformation. This includes (notably) the adoption
of the electronic air waybill and it’s all because of varying
fi nancial and organisational restrictions.
“Keeping these developments in perspective, Cargo Flash has
envisioned provision of the technology that the aviation sector
now needs. One of the boldest steps that we have taken has
been the launching of nGen, which is a low cost but secure and
scalable cloud solution, enabling an organisation to migrate to
the latest technology but with minimum investment.”
According to Cripps, nGen’s objective is to be in line with
IATA’s vision of making the freight industry paperless (see
the October issue of ALI for an update on this subject). The
company’s products are designed as effective business and
analytical tools for airlines, ground handlers and GSSAs, offering
a convenient and cost-effective medium for the management of
the entire cargo lifecycle.
The question of choice
What, then, would prompt a customer to look for more advanced
processing solutions? And why would they choose Cargo Flash?
“With most of our customers, there were multiple systems
talking to each other through
messaging or other interfaces,
which generally leads to
missing data, including the
mismatch and duplication of
work. nGen has been able to
provide them with a seamlessly
connected single system, thus
ensuring no revenue leakage
and getting rid of any possible
duplicate data entry.”
Simply put, nGen Cargo
is an end-to-end cargo
management solution,
having seamlessly connected
modules including Sales and
Reservations, Operations and
Warehouse Management,
Cargo Revenue Accounting,
Slot & Doors Management,
Mobile Apps and Hand
Held Terminal, an E-Com
Management system and
Revenue Management and
Forecasting system.
“Another challenge faced
by our customers was the
high cost of maintenance and
limited scalability of their
server infrastructure. Cargo
Flash was able to help them
by providing a low cost but
highly scalable and secure
global cloud solution.”
