BREXIT
Blue sky
Brexit?
The B word continues to dominate
the headlines, notes the Editor -
but what lies around the corner?
Indeed, is there a corner?
In terms of the interminable,
Brexit is going to take some
beating. When historians
get around to writing up the
political events following the
vote to leave the EU in June
2016, they are going to have
to navigate through more
twists and turns than one
would fi nd in reading a fi rstclass
whodunnit.
For over a thousand days
the media has dutifully
served up the latest changes
and amendments and
developments to the world.
The diehards, one suspects,
have lapped it all up but for
many, the will to live has
probably been diminishing.
Given that the original
democratic process only just
formulated the opinion that
to leave the EU was the better
bet, the amount of soulsearching
and those having
second thoughts which has
followed has been out of all
proportion to the original
decision.
Be that as it may, for the
world’s freight specialists it’s
been a question of keeping up
with the news, whilst trying to
second guess the most likely
outcome. Playing football
in the fog with an opponent
moving his goalposts might be
easier – but decisions based on
market movements have had
to be made.
