level extension if you prefer.
Aggressively priced, its core
features such as concurrent calls,
call forwarding and transfer,
call waiting, creation of call logs
for Uboss reporting, the Unity
call control product, conference
bridge and drag and drop
call controls – PC based call
management tool allowing a full
range choice of hardware.
From there we can work with
resellers to create packages that
suit their sales people and the
markets they want to go after.
Packs include minute bundles,
UCOne collaboration, and call
recording. Because only half of
users request voicemail this too
is an option, with other packs
including Unity Pro with instant
messaging, GSM Mobile Sim,
UCOne softphone for PC or
Mobile, a Mobility pack for
remote Broadworks Anywhere
and multi-device management,
Supervisor and Agent pack
for contact centres and Unity
Mobile.
Sinnott says statistics show
that 60% of extension users
would need a 200-minute
bundle with DDI and voicemail
and that each tailored package of
bundles will be just one line item
for pricing on the Uboss system.
Where VanillaIP’s Uboss
scores even higher in its
di erentiation capability is in
allowing individual reseller
level options where third party
apps can be integrated on the
Broadsoft platform. So for
example, resellers can add CRM
packages, virtual desktops,
O ce 365, video conferencing
and back up apps such as Box or
Dropbox.
30-day feature contracts and
a user portal that allows resellers
and users to con gure changes
themselves completes the picture.
DIFFERENTIATION
The Sound of Gamma
History decrees that the
ingredients of a Gamma
Roadshows are one part legend
combined with a portion of
channel networking and a big
measure of information on what
the company is set deliver to the
channel. e di erence this year
was that we had a di erent Head
Chef - the little Scotsman had
been replaced by a big Scotsman
in the form of new CEO
Andrew Taylor.
Setting the scene for the
London edition, the last in
a national series of events
that must have attracted 500
resellers between them, Taylor
said Gamma has laid strong
foundations for channels to seize
the growth opportunities in the
form of product, network quality
and channel automation.
“User requirements are
changing, cloud penetration in
the UK is outstripping Europe,
data volumes are exploding,
IT and Comms are really
converging and mobility is set to
be at the core of the market.”
Quoting analyst rms,
Gamma’s view is that both
the Hosted Telephony and the
UCaaS market are growing
rapidly, particularly in the SME
sector and if a supplier can
successfully combine these two
supply elements they would lead
that market.
Gamma says, ‘If the rst
wave of IP based Comms was
SIP with simple VoIP telephony
and the second wave was
cloud telephony where VoIP
was bundled with hosted PBX
then the next and third wave is
UCaaS delivering a full stack
integrated experience.’
e big reveal of the show
that followed could therefore
have been anticipated by some
in the audience – e launch of
Gamma Horizon Collaborate.
Fully integrated with Horizon,
Collaborate includes the
following applications, instant
messaging, presence, voice, video,
desktop / application sharing,
document sharing and more.
It’s driven through a set of end
user applications for Windows,
Mac, Android and iOS and
therefore enables users to access
business communications and
collaboration services from their
favourite devices – wherever they
are.
“We are at the beginning of
a growth cycle and there’s a big
opportunity for the channel to
go after,” says Gamma.
Stuart Smallcombe of reseller
London Gateway Networks, a
Gamma partner for the last year,
told Comms Business Magazine,
“We currently do not sell UCaaS
but the launch of Horizon
Collaborate is likely to make
our company re-consider that
position shortly.”
e importance of the mobile
market and how it was changing
is a subject that Gamma is keen
to bring to the attention of the
channel.
Since 2013, and in an overall
at market, the value of mobile
voice revenues is set to fall from
51% to 29% of the total mobile
market by 2023 but in the same
time the value of mobile data has
risen from 28% to 66%.
Gamma says that mobile
data substitutes for voice and
messaging in the form of VoIP
calls and instant messaging will
account for this shift and that
the mobile experience will be a
key driver for UCaaS where their
ability to provide end-to-end
quality of service will become a
relevant di erentiator.
Alongside many suppliers
Gamma is frustrated at the
current penetration and roll out
of bre to the premises (FTTP);
at 3% penetration the UK is in
27th position out of the 28 EU
countries.
