into sleep mode and switching off all
unnecessary power consumption. The eightmachine
range spans the eturn VS330, with
either 750 mm or 1,000 mm between centre
distance, up to the largest machine, the
VS760 with its 760 mm swing and up to
6,000 mm between centres. In nitely
variable spindle speeds feature, with the
smaller machines featuring two gear ranges,
moving up to three ranges on the larger
machines to deliver constant torque.
Longitudinal feedrates are between 0.02 and
1.04 mm/rev, accommodating the machining
of a wide range of metric and imperial thread
types. All of the Europa eturn lathes feature
a hardened and ground bed, while the
headstock is equipped with high
performance NSK heavy-duty taper roller
bearings to provide years of trouble-free
Schunk’s automation credentials will be
underlined through this cell
running and DIN8605 toolroom accuracy
standards.
#automation #workholding – Schunk,
Stand 20-360 & 20-362 A live
demonstration will highlight Schunk’s
automation integration credentials, it will
comprise a machining centre with robotic
loading, unloading and measuring
Components will be loaded into a FANUC
Robodrill from a racking system via a FANUC
robot and subsequently removed from the
machining centre and loaded to a Renishaw
Equator comparator. The Robodrill will be
equipped with Schunk’s Vero-S zero-point
clamping technology, while the base table of
the Renishaw Equator will employ a Schunk
NSL mini 100-2 clamping station. This is a
compact, stationary clamping system (199
by 99 by 30 mm) that features short taper
centring, combined with form- t and selfretaining
locking. The NSL mini boasts a
pull-down clamping force of 1,000 N,
extended to 3,000 N with the NSL mini
Turbo variant. Components in the
automation cell will be clamped in pallets
that employ Schunk NSR Robot modules,
a maintenance-free coupling system for
pallet handling that provides easy adaption
to robot arms of all kinds and which has
repeat accuracy of 0.005 mm. It also allows
an automated system to be located
extremely close to the machine table, robot
module and loading station. NSR Robot
modules can be operated with a system
pressure of 6 bar, which ensures that
additional pressure intensi ers are not
required. From a positional and repeatability
perspective, the NSR has been designed
with a very easy joining process that ensures
a repeat accuracy of 0.005 mm
A complete range of lathe chucks, jaws
and steady-rests, toolholders, quick-change
pallet systems, plus pneumatic, hydraulic,
vacuum and manual clamping systems,
digital technology and much more, will
feature alongside the automated cell.
#automation #motors – WEG, Stand
7-727 WEG will exhibit its energyef
cient motor and geared motor lines, along
with its extensive range of automation
products WG20 geared motor series is
the rst geared motor range to be entirely
developed in-house at WEG. Comprising
helical, parallel shaft and helical bevel gear
units, it boasts torque ranges between 50
and 18,000 Nm. Energy ef ciency is
improved as the housing encourages heat
dissipation from the motor’s internal parts
and prolongs its lifespan The W22 threephase
motor line provides high levels of
performance while also delivering maximum
energy ef ciency with levels up to IE4 For
hazardous and explosive atmospheres, the
W22X meets and, in some cases, exceeds
the new Eco Design legislation for energy
ef ciencies that comes into place on 15
January 2021 On show for the rst time is
the newly extended CFW500 variable speed
drive with integrated safety functions of Safe
Torque Off (STO) and Safe Stop 1 (SS1).
When activated, unintentional starting of
machines and uncontrolled stops are
prevented. The CFW500 with safety
functions ful ls the requirements for SIL 3 /
PL e, according to IEC 61800-5-2, EN
ISO 13849-1, EN 62061, IEC 61508 and
IEC 60204-1.

#turning – XYZ Machine Tools, Stand
18-130 XYZ Machine Tools will reveal the
latest additions to its Compact Turn turning
centre range, the XYZ CT65HD and the XYZ
CT52LR. In addition, the company will also
be highlighting the latest version of its
ProtoTRAK control for its mills and lathes,
while its vertical machining centre ranges
and 5-axis/universal offering will additionally
be present. The company’s innovative
automation solution that can be used with
either machining centres or turning centres
will round off the stand’s exhibits The XYZ
CT65HD replaces the existing Compact Turn
CT65 and comes with a maximum turned
length of more than double its predecessor
at 535 mm, while total Z-axis travel is 550
mm. Increased coolant delivery pressure,
which now runs at 30 l/min at 2.5 bar. The
