SEPTEMBER 2020 IT IN FOCUS
impressed with the 123mobile solution,
especially during setup of the new stores
facility in early 2018. “If I didn’t have the
mobile app the process of setting up stores
would have taken twice as long, if not
more,” he says. “Just simply running to and
from my desk, scribbling on bits of paper,
making mistakes along the way, getting
confused, whereas with 123mobile I’ve got
everything literally in my hand. I can quickly
find a part number, check how many we
have in stock, and there’s no having to ring
someone back. For me as a user, it’s perfect.”
In addition, Bailey says, the user
friendliness of a tablet or mobile device –
which are almost ubiquitous with home life
– over a laptop or PC means that a mobile
application is more likely to be adopted by
even the most ardent of technophobes on
the shopfloor. “People are now accustomed
to using mobile devices to track elements
of their personal life such as health and
fitness, so it’s more of a natural extension for
them now to use a tablet to do the same in
the work place. Being able to quickly enter
or retrieve data from a tablet is much less
cumbersome or prone to error than having
to walk back and forth to a PC. It reduces
traffic on the shopfloor and can free up
valuable space.”
For existing customers, the support
from 123insight during the pandemic has
been uninterrupted. But what about for
prospective customers that are looking
to evaluate the system? Well, says Bailey,
their experience has been enhanced. “We came up with the
online INFO Exchange, which is a 90-minute distilled version
of our Evaluation Workshop,” he explains. “Although most
people would still prefer meeting face-to-face we need to
protect both our staff and any prospective clients. We are now
hosting regular online events that we limit to a maximum of 10
attendees, making the online experience more manageable
and better for everyone.”
The online INFO Exchange events have proved extremely
popular, with recent sessions being over-subscribed.
“Selection and implementation of a new ERP system has
changed completely in recent months,” explains Bailey.
“Companies are rightly reluctant to put their staff at risk
by asking them to mix with others, but the business still
needs to move ahead. Although ERP implementation is a
project that spans most of a business, we’ve streamlined the
evaluation and implementation process to such a degree
that companies don’t need to put the decision to implement
on hold because of COVID-19. They can confidently assess
whether the system is right for them and then work with us
safely to implement and go live. We’ve already got some
customers that have completed this fully online process that
are ready to move forward with implementation.”
The past few months have caused all manner of headaches
for manufacturers across the country. With a reliable ERP
system, supported by a company that adapts with you, you can
rest easy that you’ll have an infrastructure in place that will give
you visibility going forward, whatever the future holds.
