IMR welcomes
MTC to Ireland
Irish Manufacturing
Research (IMR) welcomed
members of the Manufacturing
Technology Centre (MTC)
to Ireland, to its facilities
in Dublin and Mullingar.
The MTC representation
included Dr Harald Egner,
MTC Collaboration
Manager, Dr David Brackett,
Technology Manager Additive
Manufacturing, Martin Dury,
L&D Manager, Phil Jackson
Technical Manager Automation
and Dr Lina Huertas, Head of
Technology Strategy for Digital
Manufacturing.
The visit follows the signing
of a strategic agreement
between IMR and MTC which
aims to strengthen the ties
between the two research
centres and promote mutual
understanding between
engineering and manufacturing
research in the UK and Ireland.

Leading tool manufacturer Ad-
Vance Engineering has marked
the start of the new decade with a
trio of successes, including being
shortlisted for the fi nals of a highprofi
le local business award.
The NI-based company,
which specialises in the design,
manufacture and refurbishment
of injection moulding tools for the
plastics manufacturing sector, has
been shortlisted in two categories
– Manufacturing Excellence
and Innovation – by Lisburn and
Castlereagh City Council.
It will now go forward to
compete against a range of other
businesses in the grand fi nal on 6th
March.
Celebrating the high performing
and diverse range of businesses
that drive the local economy,
the Business Awards provide an
important platform for Ad-Vance
Engineering to showcase its highly
skilled team and its innovative
approach to injection
moulding.
Expressing his delight
in being shortlisted, Roger
Vance, MD of Ad-Vance
Engineering said: “This is
offi cial recognition for the
highly precise nature of work
carried out by our team. It
also refl ects the success
of our export drive and growing
demand for the bespoke service we
provide to top tier manufacturing

The news coincides with a new
partnership agreement between Ad-
Vance Engineering and the Northern
Ireland Technology Centre (NITC)
which is part of Queen’s University
Belfast. Aiming to bridge the gap
between academic research and
commercial production, NITC will
collaborate with Ad-Vance on
a number of technical projects
which will add value and drive
competitiveness within the
sector.
Ad-Vance has also
recently attained the
globally recognised
environmental standard
ISO 14001:2015, marking the
company’s commitment to
sustainable manufacturing
and production.
