APPOINTMENTS
Major moves at BIFA
John Stubbings has
succeeded Mark Bromley
as the elected National
Chair of BIFA – the British
International Freight
Association – for a two-year
period. Bromley becomes
Immediate Past Chair for a
two-year term.
In addition, Rachel
Morley, General Manager for
Operations at BIFA member
company, Spatial Global,
has been elected Vice-Chair
by the BIFA Board. Morley
was appointed a Director of
BIFA in 2017 and chairs the
trade association’s Midlands
region. Sir Peter Bottomley,
MP, remains as BIFA’s
President.
Stubbings has been
associated with BIFA for
many years, and is currently
Group Director and
Company Secretary at the
Woodland Group. He is also
Chair of BIFA’s Legal and
Insurance Policy Group.
Joining the Board as a
Director is Charles Hogg,
Commercial Director of
Unsworth Global Logistics.
Hogg is currently Chair
of BIFA’s Maritime, Road
and Rail Policy Group. He
replaces Andrew Melton of
Ligentia, who has stepped
down after 14 years’ service
on the Board. Melton will
continue to assist BIFA in a
Council role as VP.
NEW FACES AT
AIR PARTNER
Air Partner, the global aviation
services group, recently announced
that following a comprehensive
search process, Paul Dollman has
been appointed as Non-Executive
Director of the company. He will
also take up the role of Chair of the
Audit and Risk Committee, replacing
Shaun Smith, with effect from June
26, being the date of Air Partner’s
2019 Annual General Meeting.
Separately, Air Partner has
announced the appointment of
Oscar Thwin as Asia Pacifi c Vice
President of Freight. He will join the
Group’s recently opened offi ce in
Singapore as it looks to expand its
offering in the Asia Pacifi c region.
He will report directly to Mike
Hill, Director - Group Freight. This
expansion in Singapore follows
growth in the US, with the opening
of offi ces in Los Angeles in 2018 and
Houston in mid-February.
Thwin has 36 years of
experience working in the aviation
industry and has held a wide
variety of roles in management,
sales and operations. Prior to
joining Air Partner, he held the
role of Station Manager for Airline
Network Services in Chicago and
previously worked for Singapore
Airlines, Cargo Airport Services and
Nippon Cargo.
COOL CHAIN
CHANGES
Nicola Caristo, Pharma &
Business Development Manager
– Auditing & Certifi cation
Manager for Alha Group, has been
announced as the new Secretary
General for the Cool Chain
Association.
Caristo has worked in a
variety of roles during a 22 year
career for the Alha Group, one of
Italy’s leading air cargo logistics
providers.
He is also one of the 25
members of the International
Air Transport Association’s Time
and Temperature Working Group,
which develops and maintains
standards for the transportation
of healthcare goods.
VP AT LUFTHANSA
CARGO NAMED
Achim Martinka, previously
Head of the One Cargo project,
will be appointed Vice President
Germany. Martinka succeeds J.
Florian Pfaff, who took over as
Vice President Asia Pacifi c on
June 1 2019. Martinka will take
over his duties in the coming
weeks.
A business economist, he
began his career at Lufthansa
Cargo in 2000 as Senior Manager
Global Accounts. After various
positions in Europe, he moved to
Atlanta in 2010 as Vice President
The Americas before being
appointed Vice President Europe
& Africa in Frankfurt in 2016.

Seth Hertel has been appointed
as its new Chief Commercial
Offi cer.

supply chain security
stakeholders.
Thorsten has served
in a voluntary capacity as
Chairman of TAPA’s Europe,
Middle East & Africa (EMEA)
region since 2006, alongside
his responsibilities as, most
recently, Director APS
Channel Security & Business
Resilience at Microsoft
Corporation.
