HELPING ENGINEERS
GET A GRIP
WITH an extensive range of selfaligning
pads and positioning feet,
components specialist norelem
ensures toolmakers and engineers
have everything they need to
support and clamp parts securely
and work effi ciently.
Widely used in jig and tool
construction, norelem’s selfaligning
pads can be used for
clamping fi xtures, as well as for
stops, supports and thrust pads.
Positioning feet can additionally
be used as thrust pieces in
general machine and equipment
construction.
Manufactured from high-quality
steel or stainless steel, norelem’s
self-aligning pads feature toggle
locators and an embedded ball
which can be angled between 7.5°
and 20°, suiting them to a variety
of contours and geometries.
With static load ratings from
10-165 kN, the self-aligning pads
are designed to withstand high
forces. For delicate surfaces, a
non-colouring polyurethane coating
helps protect against damage.
For slippery or smooth objects, an
abrasive diamond surface provides
maximum grip with minimal
clamping force.
Meanwhile, providing a
tightening torque between 8.5
and 60 Nm, the positioning feet
are also suitable for a variety of
contact surfaces. This includes
fl at, spherical and corrugated
surfaces, or as a support with
POM insert.
Marcus Schneck, CEO of
norelem, said: “With such a
comprehensive choice of sizes
and types, our self-aligning range
is designed to meet almost every
requirement quickly and reliably.”

PRODUCT SUPPLY BOND
UK tapes, adhesives and
sealants distributor, Viking
Industrial, has signed a
product supply partnership
with Funkyheat, a producer of
bespoke infrared glass mirror
heaters for home and business.
The application – currently
unique to the wholesale glass
sector – is for a new energy
effi cient infrared glass panel
radiator and has been adopted
by Funkyheat following rigorous
testing of several products
from Viking’s 3M High Bond
range.
The dual-purpose bonding
requirement was to affi x the
rear holding bracket and the
plastics consumer electrics
box to the back panel of the
radiator.
Viking Industrial’s technical
specialist Craig Smith said:
“After testing in-house
products such as silicone
adhesive sealants and
other off-the-shelf
adhesives, Funkyheat
fi nally settled on
our 3M VHB 4941,
as its name suggests
a very high bond and
conformable acrylic foam
tape that allows more
complete bond contact
area when bonding rigid or
irregular materials.”

Excellent
fl ow
properties
UK adhesive specialist
Techsil has launched a
potting compound for
electronics with medium
viscosity and small fi ller
particle size: Structalit
5894-1 is the perfect
choice for large-volume
potting or glob top sealing
of power electronics.
Structalit 5894-1 is a
black, one-part epoxy
resin which requires no
mixing. The combination
of optimised viscosity
and the small particle
size of its fi llers means
it fl ows well and makes
an excellent electrical
potting compound. As
an additional benefi t,
the low fi ller weight
makes this potting epoxy
less abrasive during
application.
The epoxy cures
rapidly when exposed
to heat, which allows
faster processing of
large volume electronic
component potting and
sealing. Once cured,
the epoxy encapsulant
provides a smooth and
level surface which is, at
the same time, shock and
scratch resistant.
