Nylon slotted
capstan screw
BÜLTE’S has extended its
range of screws with a ‘Slotted
capstan screw DIN404’ range.
This screw is composed of an
enlarged cylindrical head, a
straight slot on the top of the
head and two radial holes on
each side of the head and is
fully in Nylon.
In comparison with metallic
fasteners, Nylon fasteners offer
various advantages; they are
lighter, cheaper, and easier
to recycle, they don’t conduct
electricity and are also not
subject to corrosion.
Slotted capstan screws have
a unique design in the head
which is similar to a cheese/pan
head in shape but has two holes
bored through the
side of the head at
90 degrees to one
another serving a
dual purpose: The
slotted capstan
screw DIN 404
may be tightened
by inserting a tee
bar into the holes
when it is not
possible to use
a screwdriver to
tighten the screw;
locking wires can
be attached to
the cross holes
to secure the screw.
The slotted capstan screws
DIN 404 are designed to be
tightened or loosened from the
side rather than from the top,
by inserting a small bar into
one of the side radial holes in
the head. Which is useful when
there is restricted access to
the top of the screw. They are
applicable in areas such as
machine building, instrument
making, as well as for bonding
structural elements from
various materials in industrial
sectors.

NEW SPEC EPDM INTEGRAL
GASKET AND SPINE
A spring steel spine on a P section
gasket is a simple, effective way to
provide an excellent gasket function
for enclosure and vehicle doors. To
date this has been achieved with
an EPDM bubble sealing profi le
attached to a PVC spring carrier.
However, now EMKA has developed
an integral section which combines
both in one EPDM moulding.
This integration provides many
advantages – EPDM is itself a more
dynamic material than PVC, making
it easier to fi t while conforming
to door contours and providing
good temperature, UV and ozone
resistance. At the same time, a
unifi ed moulding gives a cost
benefi t to installers, plus it is less
hazardous in fi re situations.
EMKA carries extensive stock
of standard gasket profi les for
enclosures, cabinets, vehicles,
HVAC, etc. These extruded sections
provide a simple and effective
means of sealing to common IP
ratings such as IP44, IP55, IP65,
IP66 protecting against ingress
of dust or liquids when installed
face-to-face between a door and
cabinet frame.
Profi les in EPDM, neoprene, PVC,
black nitrate and natural rubber
cover traditional expanded closed
cell (self-adhesive) foam, through
wiping blade and bubble or P type
sections, with self-grip (clip-on),
channel fi xing and window type
(with expansion insert), to more
complex multi-functional and
custom designs, perhaps with
fi llers or fl ocked weather strips and
supported sections with internal or
fl ange structural support.
