FROM THE EDITOR
‘Unprecedented
Times’
This is one of the hardest comments I’ve had to write. Trying to provide a balanced update on
what the UK Channel and wider community is going through at the
moment is near impossible. By the time you are reading this we will have
gone through at least 10-12 days of government updates as we wrestle
with the spread of the Coronavirus.
As I write the Channel is valiantly trying to get their customers up and
running with remote working tools to minimise the impact to businesses.
ere is no question that we are going to see businesses disappear during
this period of ‘lockdown’, if reseller’s customers start to go under the
Channel will feel the full force of the impact.
Businesses have been promised a £350bn lifeline however there
is confusion as to which business owners are entitled to apply and
how to go about getting the relief aid. It is still unclear if the aid
from the government will be enough to keep the majority of
businesses a oat.
You will nd some of the Channel reactions to the crisis in
this issue. Next month we will be producing a comprehensive
Remote Working guide which will include some of those vendors
at the front line in helping partners and end user businesses keep the
lights on. It has been brilliant to see those vendors o ering services
for free and given the mass adoption of collaboration and uni ed
communications technology I really think this is the start of a sea
change in the way we work.
I have already seen those within our business which I would
consider draconian embrace tools such as Microsoft Teams. I can
see the old trust issues of senior sta starting to dissipate, this will
be happening across the country/ world right now. In my opinion
this WILL be the event which changes the way we communicate at
work and accelerate our digital transformation journey.
Stay safe, enjoy the issue
