are doing. Awards like this help you recognise that,
yes – YASA is an impressive company with a very
motivated and forward-thinking workforce.”
For Molloy, the key thing was learning about the
innovation happening within other manufacturing
companies across the UK. “Being able to say
we have stood out in such a competitive fi eld
is something that makes me especially proud.
Everyone nominated has such good ideas, and
being recognised for the work we do at YASA
made us realise just how well we are doing.”
An added bonus, says Harris, is that both
Molloy and Hillman had joined YASA straight
out of education. “Having people that we’ve
hired as graduates and nurtured through the
business now winning such prestigious awards
is a real vindication of the work we’ve done and
the direction we’re going in,” he says. “For the
company, it’s great recognition – we’ve raised
visibility of what we’re doing and can
demonstrate our excellence to new recruits.
Both Georgie and Tom have become great
ambassadors for the company.
“It also means we can tell our customers
– or potential customers – that we have been
recognised for our skilled workforce. These awards
demonstrate the world-class team we have here.”
Companies like YASA, and employees like
Hillman and Molloy, demonstrate that UK
manufacturing is alive and well. Not only that, it is
at the cutting edge of an ever-changing sector and
helping to support the brightest and best. As Harris
concludes: “Manufacturing is a vital part of the
national economy and is something we should be
shouting about a lot more than we are.
“Entering the Manufacturing Champions
Awards is something that every company should
be doing. They provide a voice for the fantastic
work that UK manufacturers are doing. These are
motivated, intelligent people who are benefi tting
the entire UK, and seeing them rewarded on such
a major scale is extremely pleasing.”
