Lufthansa Technik implemented private
wireless 5G networks for two innovation
projects, using independent infrastructure
with its own antennae and servers. The
projects include one using augmented reality
to visualise 3D design data for VIP interiors
in empty fuselages, and one for virtual engine
inspections. Both place a very high demand
on bandwidth for wireless data transmission,
which Lufthansa Technik says could not be
covered by other 4G and wi-fi technologies.
