PRODUCTS & PRACTICES: HANOVER FAIR
to focus on their core objectives.
Manus VR Studio makes this
possible.”
Motion technologies specialist
Parker Hannifin presented several
new technology innovations for
system solutions, components and
services for industrial production.
Among the products given a
special focus was the company’s
EcoReach system (pictured, right),
an integrated hydraulic and
traction powertrain
system, that is said
to deliver vast
improvements in
performance and
efficiency, while at the
same time simplifying
build procedures and
reducing costs for forklift
OEMs. The system is said to give
increased battery life, productivity,
load handling and operation
speed, and a significant reduction
in energy consumption.
SAP SE and Clover Group
signed an agreement for
co-innovation developments in
terms of artificial intelligence
(AI) technologies and predictive
analytics. Collaborative solutions
that combine SAP technology
platforms with Clover Group’s
expertise in the field of
‘intellectual data analysis’,
will help industrial companies
integrate ‘smart’ condition-based
repair processes, and streamline
scheduling of the equipment layup
for repairs based on its actual
condition.
Schildknecht revealed a
new, ‘smart’, state-of-the-art
connected cable drum (pictured,
right). It has features including
position awareness and how
much surplus cable length it is
carrying. Moreover, regardless of
where on the globe it is located,
it transmits its knowledge to an
operator, wirelessly. The Smart
Cable Drum has been developed
by Schildknecht in collaboration
with LAPP.
Seeq Corporation expanded its
integration and partnership with
global technology leader Siemens.
At Hanover, the
two companies
demonstrating
a self-service
analytics
application
that works with
Siemens’ process
automation products.
The two companies are working
together on a number of shared
efforts, including engaging clients
on opportunities with Siemens
MindSphere that connects
manufacturer products, plants,
systems, and machines, enabling
them to harness the wealth of data
generated by the Internet of Things
with advanced analytics.
Siemens expanded its digital
enterprise portfolio to include a
new digital service for optimising
plant maintenance. The ‘Lifecycle
Management Suite’ (pictured, right)
facilitates the consistent planning,
execution and documentation
of all service activities. It is even
possible to use the cloud-based
system from mobile terminals, and
so immediately document activities
in the plant. Furthermore, Siemens
announced an expansion of its
‘Digital Innovation Platform’, with
the introduction of the latest version
of NX software, which has been
enhanced with machine learning
and artificial intelligence capabilities.
These new features can predict next
steps and update the user interface
to help users more efficiently use
software to increase productivity.
Sonotec presented the new
modular software platform
‘Sonaphone DataSuite’ for the
digital ultrasonic testing device
Sonaphone. Visitors were shown
the benefits of the predictive
maintenance software, whose
functions include mapping of
existing system structure, optimal
route planning and characteristic
value definition. It also enables
testers to synchronise data with
Sonaphone, show trends, detect
anomalies and make predictions
for future behaviour.
Visitors also received
comprehensive information about
the project ‘Thermofas’ at the stand
of the German Federal Ministry
for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The project aims to focus on using
thermography to assess the quality
of fibre composites for the wind
energy industry. Meanwhile,
Bam, a departmental research
institute of the German Federal
Ministry for Economic Affairs
and Energy, focused on additive
manufacturing, highlighting its
research to visitors.
