Water utility SevernTrent
announces H rst AMP7 contractors
Midlands water utility SevernTrent has
announced details of the fi rst contractors it
intends to use to deliver its £2bn investment in
its construction projects for AMP7 – its plan for
work between 2020-2025.
The water company, which serves around
eight million people across the Midlands,
has changed the way that it intends to carry
out the work: it will bring the design work
in-house, including the creation of a new
specialist design team, and will work with more
construction contractors than previously.
The framework has been structured into
four defi ned lots: capital delivery design-andbuild
frameworks (lot 1) and three separate
capital delivery build-only frameworks (lot 2, 3
and 4).
Helen Miles, SevernTrent capital delivery
and commercial director, says: “Getting fasttrack
status from Ofwat means that we’ve
been able to make a really early start on our
planning for AMP7. We now have 12 months
where we can defi ne the key projects we need
to deliver for our customers, which we can
do alongside our new construction partners.
We are delighted we now have our partners
in place for lots 1 and 2, and this is a really
exciting time for us as we look at new, more
effi cient ways to invest for the future to make
our services even better.”
