PRIMERA BEAUFORT BY FERCO SEATING
Launched: 2011
Dimensions: Primera Beaufort is available in
two variants. The one with 17° pitch is 900mm
(35.4in) tall and 410mm (16.1in) deep when closed.
The other variant has 20° pitch and is 880mm
(34.6in) tall and 480mm (18.9in) deep when closed.
Both variants are available in versions measuring
485mm (19.1in), 510mm (20.1in), 535mm (21.1in)
or 560mm (22in) between seat centres.
Construction materials: Steel is used for the
seat’s legs, foot plate and tubular frame, with
timber for the seat back and end panel. The seat
is covered with high-density cold-moulded foam
and fully upholstered.
Applications: Primera Beaufort is suitable for
traditional theatre and performance spaces, as
well as corporate auditoria and educational
spaces. UK installations include Theatr y Werin
at Aberystwyth University (pictured), ADC Theatre
in Cambridge and the Miller Centre in Caterham.
The seats have also been used at Shattuck St
Mary’s School in Malaysia, as well as for Australian
installations at Bunjil Place in Melbourne and
Alexander Theatre at Monash University.
Standard features: Customers have a choice
of upholstery fabrics as well as laminated wooden
armrests, included as standard. The seats are
acoustically tested to the ISO 354: 2003 standard.
Customisation: Options include wooden finishing
for reveals, seat pans and end panels; acoustic
dampeners; upholstered armrests; seat
numbering; embroidery; cupholders; and
integrated A4 writing tablets. The company says
that with options for a small closed depth, variable
seat centres and pitches, the seat can be installed
in small spaces and tiers of 800mm (31.5in) depth
without compromising on comfort or access.
TS5 BY AUDITORIA SERVICES
Launched: 2015
Dimensions: The seat is 460mm (18.1in) deep and
the back is 500mm (19.7in) high.
Construction materials: TS5 has foam cushions,
laser-cut/profiled steel tubing and plate and a plywood
base, and is finished with a jacket cover in the client’s
selected material.
Applications: UK installations include the Theatre
Royal Haymarket in London, Grove Theatre in Dunstable,
Southport Arts Centre in Merseyside and Dereham
Memorial Hall in Dereham.
Standard features: The base and back are upholstered
with contoured foam cushions, supported on highdensity
birch plywood bases. A 60mm (2.4in)-thick CMHR
60 cushion is used for the base, and 50mm (2in)-thick
CMHR 35 cushion is used for the back. The underside of
the seat base and outside of the seat back are finished
with a 6mm (0.2in) capping and fitted with a jacket
cover in a material selected from a standard range.
The stanchions are constructed from 40mm x 20mm
(1.6in x 0.8in) hollow-section steel and plate, complete
with sprung auto-tip brackets that comply with BS5216
ND/3. All steelwork is powder-coated in RAL 7016
anthracite grey or RAL 9005 black as standard.
Customisation: Options include fabric or wooden arms,
backs and underseats; cupholders; underside panel
slots; hidden seat hinge brackets; seat numbers and row
letters; and fabrics in a choice of colours. The upholstery
can be finished with buttons, embroidery, pull-through
and decorative seams. The optional arms are 250mm
(9.8in) long, with profiled side panels in 12mm (0.5in)
plywood. The top and sides are covered with CMHR foam.
