Sheltair Aviation
started construction
of a full-service FBO
at Rocky Mountain
Metropolitan Airport, Colorado
this summer. When complete next
year the new FBO will provide the
region with a 21 acre, US$20 million
complex and will be the company’s first FBO
presence west of the Mississippi.
The facility will include a 10,000ft2 FBO terminal, a
30,00ft2 heated hangar that will incorporate 5,000ft2
office space and a 9,000ft long runway. The new FBO
will feature a ramp side porte-cochere with the latest
snow melt technology to receive arriving/departing
aircraft and will be able to accommodate large cabin
class aircraft such as the G650 and Bombardier
Globals. Some 10 acres of aircraft ramp space is also
planned, as well as parking for up to 120 vehicles.
The new facility will ensure the general aviation
community has the infrastructure to serve a vital and
growing market that includes nearby Denver, Boulder
and the surrounding Front Range. Todd Anderson,

we’re about growth and
development. This location opens
up the West for us and provides a
base of operation for this region.”
Larger aircraft and services
There were a number of reasons behind
the decision to create a new FBO at the
Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport.
Anderson said, “We are an aviation real
estate developer and what we do best
is build hangars and aviation facilities.
With the dynamic growth in the Denver,
Boulder and Front Range area we
have identified a need and demand for
hangars to accommodate large cabin
class aircraft.”
