“This location
opens up the West
for us and provides a
base of operation for
this region.”
Todd Anderson, senior vice president for
real estate and development
at Sheltair
played a role in the decision to
expand the business in the region,
as did the location of the airport.
“Rocky Mountain Metropolitan
Airport is located midway between
Denver and Boulder, just 16 miles
northwest of the central business district
of Denver.
“The Front Range location offers an option
or reliever to the mountain area airports for operators
during severe weather.
“Highway access offers quick and convenient
access to both Denver, Boulder and Front Range
areas,” said Anderson.
Construction challenges
Anderson said that the build will not be without its
challenges and he believes that the weather could
cause some issues. “Our goal is to be out of the
ground, utilities and foundation, before the freeze
comes,” he said.
Initially the facilities operating hours will be 06:00-
22:00 and on call afterwards. However, according to
Anderson, if the market demand is sufficient, Sheltair
will expand to operating 24/7 and there will be the
option to add extra build phases.
