to allow the passengers to easily adjust the environment
to their preferences.”
One of the biggest improvements in the PC-12 NGX
is a complete redesign of the air circulation system and all
interior panels. Whereas the old PC-12 only had gaspers,
the PC-12 NGX now has continuous airflow as well. “By
redesigning the air circulation ducts and environmental
control system, the PC-12 NGX now provides an evenly
distributed, constant airflow in the cabin that is much
quieter than the system it replaces,” says Aniello.
Bretscher says that along with the new engine
propeller, which has a lower RPM than the old one, the
air-conditioning was a key battleground in cabin noise
reduction efforts. “If the ducting is too small it makes
noise, so we increased that, but we had to keep the head
clearance the same,” he explains.
NEW SEAT DESIGN
The seats are also new. “We received such a positive
response to the shape and comfort of the executive seats
in the PC-24 that we wanted to try to replicate some of
those features,” says Aniello. “Designing a new seat is no
small task when it comes to testing and certification, so
we wanted to make sure we got it right the first time.”
Aniello says a lower seat reference point and a longer
backrest give more headroom for seated passengers, while
providing better back and lumbar support. The bottom
cushion size was increased slightly, and with the dropdown
armrests level with the cushion, an even wider
seating area can be attained. The new seat has adjustable
lumbar support, tracks inboard and can swivel 180°.
“One feature that PC-12 operators have long
requested, that we are pleased to now offer in the NGX,
is the ability of the seat to fully recline to a flat position,”
says Aniello. “Adding to the versatility of the aircraft,

For the first production PC-12 NGX unveiled at NBAA-BACE,
Pilatus chose one of the six standard executive interior designs
that it felt best conveyed the ‘off-road spirit’ of the PC-12.
“It is a versatile aircraft that can go almost anywhere, and the
earthy full-grain leather colour is both a representation of that
ability and robust enough to withstand heavy use,” says Tom
Aniello. “We also wanted to connect to Pilatus’ heritage as a
progressive, forward-looking aviation company, and that’s what
inspired the dynamic blue paint scheme and interior elements.”
