TESTING ON THE AGENDA
Space Tech Conference Europe offers a
comprehensive agenda across three tracks
– the Industry Conference, Technology
Conference and Smallsats Conference – all
designed to inform and inspire, with a host of
trailblazers and thought-leaders billed to take
the stage.
The free-to-attend conferences bring
together professionals in the space industry
working in Europe and beyond to discuss
current trends, developments and challenges
in the market, as well as groundbreaking
technologies and testing solutions.
The Technology track in particular drills
down into the testing market and brand
new testing technologies. During a day
focused on testing theatre and the role
of SMEs in space, the Technology track
offers three connected sessions. The first
session covers environmental testing, with
experts in the field of environment testing
for spacecraft components, subsystems and
systems examining and reviewing technology
innovations. The second session welcomes
Atos IT Solutions and Services’ CTO to
discuss innovations in electrical testing,
while the third session sees Valispace’s CEO
tackle simulation testing and model-based
system engineering.
Meanwhile, the Industry track opens with
a leadership panel on the importance of
moving forward together. It features sessions
on future space agency missions, the
need for a European gear change to boost
competitiveness in commercial space, and
improving (inter)satellite communications,
including optical, radio-frequency and ground
systems. A roundtable covers everything from
LEO commercialisation to human settlement
in space.
The Smallsats track puts the smallsat
market in focus, offering industry
forecasts and delving into challenges and
opportunities. Sessions cover everything
from breaking the bottleneck barrier and
moving forward with small launch services to
future requirements from end-user verticals
and launch mission management. Preparing
the smallsat industry for the next frontier is
placed in sharp focus throughout.
The conferences are tailored for engineers,
manufacturers and decision-makers at
commercial, (aero)space and defence
organisations, startups and Europe’s space
agencies. They also provide an opportunity
for industry professionals from similar
companies and organisations around the
world to network with international peers and
discuss the latest trends and topics.
Featured speakers at Space Tech and Smallsats
Conferences include:
Jan Woerner – director-general at ESA
Agnieszka Lukaszczyk – senior director of European affairs at Planet
Dr Sandy Tirtey – launch director at Rocket Lab
Ane Aanesland – CEO at ThrustMe
Pascale Ehrenfreund – chair of the executive board, DLR
among many others.
Together this line-up of industry trailblazers promises exciting, educational discussion and debate,
essential content for those looking to push ahead in these fast-growing space segments.
EXHIBITOR SPOTLIGHT: MARIO BAHLOULI, BUSINESS
DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, ELEMENT MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY
What products will you be featuring at
Space Tech Expo Europe?
We will be speaking about aerospace
and space-industry materials testing
and product qualification testing. We are
one of the largest independent testing
laboratory networks in the world with
more than 200 labs. Our testing services
are offered on almost all materials,
from metals to composites. We serve
clients from raw materials to full-scale
assemblies and parts.
What are your objectives at the show?
Many know us by legacy names, but
we are now branded as Element. We
hope to connect with current clients
and new companies. We want to make
connections for future projects with a
need for independent testing.
What were the biggest drivers of
Element’s recent growth?
There has been tremendous growth in
the aerospace and defence industry,
as well as the space
launch industry. We see
that manufacturing
and testing needs
have grown in our
general industries.
Element has
added locations and
personnel to meet this
increasing demand.
Where are you focusing R&D?
Many of our laboratories specialize in
assisting manufacturers with R&D. We
provide certainty in our clients’ R&D of
their materials, products and projects.
Providing accurate data on a timely
schedule is key for our partnerships.
What new trends do you anticipate
over the next five years?
Additive manufacturing’s use will grow
for many companies, while additional
regulations and safety protocols will
require extensive testing and certification.
