Desmond as new people
and culture director.
Prior to joining RDJ,
Desmond worked across
geographies in global organisations
such as Diageo, Bupa Australia, and Carlton
& United Breweries.
Desmond said: “I am delighted to have
joined RDJ and look forward to working
with the team across the firm’s three offices
in Cork, Dublin and Galway.” She

Sarah Kruger has been
promoted to human
resources leader of
Accenture, Australia
and New Zealand.
Kruger has been at
Accenture for more than two decades and
has worked in a variety of departments at
the global professional services firm. She
has a Bachelor’s degree in business
accounting from the Charles Sturt
University, and joined Accenture’s Canberra
office as a consultant in 1997.
Kruger is now tasked with managing the
firm’s HR operations across Australia and
New Zealand, which entails a variety of
responsibilities. Kruger will work on
developing Accenture’s talent strategy while
also ensuring that employee sentiment is
maintained across the region.
ING has promoted Ruth
McGill to chief human
resources of cer.
McGill succeeds Hein
Knaapen, who left ING at the
end of 2019.
An international HR professional with
more than 20 years of experience in HR and
organisational change, McGill joined ING
in 2015 as senior HR director for challenger
and growth (C&G) countries to take
responsibility for the C&G HR portfolio.
Her achievements include improving
job rotation and succession planning
among leadership in various regions,
and significantly increasing employee
diversity levels.
ABM named Chris
Townsend as its new
HR director.
Facility solutions provider
ABM has appointed
Townsend as senior director
of HR for the UK, Europe, and the Middle
East after a year as interim HR director.
In his new role he’ll refine the company’s
HR strategy, with initial priorities set to
include driving greater alignment in the
UK under a new operating model for areas
such as talent, rewards and HR shared
services, and leading the company’s HR
business partners.
“Having spent time immersing myself in
the ABM business this past year, I’m ready
to develop and drive forward plans that
place the business at the cutting edge of the
industry in terms of talent, development
and world-class processes,” said Townsend.
