RAMPING UP
Bombardier leverages international resources in the
creation of its aircraft, but ultimately the Liberty’s home
is in Wichita, Kansas, where all Learjet aircraft are
designed, engineered, assembled and completed. The
company intends to utilise its existing manufacturing
footprint to produce the aircraft. Learjet aircraft are built
and tested according to commercial aircraft certification
requirements – Part 25. Bombardier is in the process
of completing validation exercises for the new jet to meet
these. The aircraft is expected to enter service in 2020.
In addition to securing certification, the
company is striving to create a highly
customizable experience for
customers. “One of the great things
about this aircraft is that customers

have the option to add features based on
their preferences,” says Loeffler.
CONNECT THE DOTS
One example of this is that there are three
options for onboard connectivity. One
of these is a 4G ATG solution that
Bombardier says enables streaming and
video conferencing.
“It was extremely important for us with
this aircraft to offer Learjet quality that
was accessible to more light jet customers
than ever,” says Loeffler. “We achieved this
by optimising our production processes,
and making some features optional, such
as the auxiliary power unit and some nonessential
exterior lights. Our efforts
have allowed us to put the world’s
best light jet within reach of more
customers than ever before.”
