as universities and public companies such
as the post office to startups.
CIAR aims to be a leader in Europe for
the development of RPAS and in their use
for atmospheric and geoscientific research.
Furthermore, CIAR will be able to serve as
a base of for airborne campaigns conducted
with both large and small manned aircraft
This characteristic will surely promote
technological innovation and development
in these fields, making CIAR a suitable
place to hold innovative investigations into
and aerospace rsearch. \\

CAMPAIGNS
The intended campaigns to be developed in
CIAR include trial flights for RPAS
payloads to test their correct functioning,
as well as their integration with the
aircraft and detection of possible failures
(telemetry), tests to verify and qualify
RPAS and their systems, atmospheric
investigation campaigns such as aerosols,
clouds, rain or ice formation;
environmental control studies, such as fire
monitoring, remote sensing or Earth
observation campaigns.
Users of the center for RPAS trials at
CIAR range from large companies such as
Airbus, Boeing to public institutions such

equipment and technological

these flight campaigns; to provide the
necessary infrastructure for the users of
these aircraft and to support the
development of new laws and regulations.
FACILITIES AND SERVICES
As an innovation center, the infrastructure
at CIAR has been adapted to meet the
requirements of both technological and
scientific users. The control center allows
for the controlling of aircraft and the
surrounding vehicles. Thanks to the
secondary surveillance radar, different
types of cooperative aircraft can be flown
at the same time. Its communications
system allows for direct communications
between all scientists working on the
flight campaign. It can provide
comprehensive support for planning and
operational testing, including a service for
integrating new scientific and
technological payloads in RPAS.
CIAR also provides a meteorological
system to plan the flights by providing real
time and forecasting of meteorological
data, protection systems for supporting
activities and the general services center.
