EXHIBITION PREVIEW MACH 2020 – BIRMINGHAM NEC – 20-24 APRIL
On the starting blocks
We are just a couple of months away from the UK’s premier manufacturing technology show, MACH. The
exhibitors are beginning to reveal their wares, so we kick off our MACH previews in earnest this issue,
having set the scene in January (https://is.gd/gipabu). Exhibitors are listed by alpha order (UK agents,
where relevant, in brackets), with their technology areas highlighted by various hashtags

#surface_fi nishing – Ellesco, Stand:
6-370 Ellesco’s 200 m2 stand will feature
equipment from Timesavers, Autopulit and
WMS, covering grinding, deburring, polishing,
general surface nishing, weld dressing and
blending. Manual, semi-automatic and fully
automated robot integrated systems will
additionally be on the stand One of three
Timesavers machines on the stand, the
Timesavers 42-Series 1350 HWRB machine,
is equipped with the revolutionary Hammer
Head heavy slag removal system, with this
combined on the show machine with edge
deburring and radiussing heads. This
speci cation is ideal for processing heavilydrossed
ame- or plasma-cut parts up to
1,350 mm wide (1,600 mm option), while it
is also suited to processing a wide range of
laser-cut and punched materials, including
stainless steel, aluminium, carbon steel,
zinc coated and laser lm products
Timesavers’ mid-range 32-Series will
demonstrate accurate and ef cient deburring
of laser-cut components. Ideal for deburring,
edge rounding and/or nishing of different
materials, like its larger cousin, the
32-Series is equipped with Timesavers’
rotary brush technology. The use of a
vacuum table as standard means that very
small, lightweight parts can be processed,
with the whole cycle being monitored from
an angled control panel and a large window.
Other standard features include an 1,100
mm working width, LED beam on the infeed
side that indicates the machine status,
frequency-controlled motors for process
control and ease of changing the brushes,
which can be speci ed to suit a wide range
of materials and duties. Completing the
ef cient operation is the automatically
adjustable table height of between
0-100 mm and conveyor speeds, variable

between 0.2 to 8 m/min Finally, the
12-Series is the baby of the Timesavers’
range. Available in 225 and 600 mm working
widths, it is ideal for deburring and nishing
sheet metal parts. The machine can be
equipped with an abrasive belt, cylinder
brush or rotating disc, or a combination, with
the grinding belt removing vertical burrs and
subsequent roller brush or disc operations
eliminating side burrs, while producing edge
breaking at the same time. The 12-Series
can automatically adjust the table height
between 1-75 mm and frequency-controlled
drives maintain workpiece ow at anywhere
between 3 -9 m/min. The show machine will
be presented in abrasive belt plus nylon web
roller brush format for deburring, edgebreaking
and brush-based surface nishing
WMS Engineering’s robot concept appears
on the stand for the rst time, highlighting a
completely different approach to deburring
by taking the part to the tool, the tool to the
part, or a combination, dependent on
application. Tools comprise high speed
(9,000 rpm) mills, drills, brushes, stones,
abrasive wheels, really any rotary
consumable, although WMS doesn’t restrict
itself to rotary tooling alone. The company’s
modular approach to system build means
that it can produce complete turnkey
customised solutions Fully automatic weld
dressing will be demonstrated with Autopulit
belt grinding equipment. The robot cell on
display at MACH 2020 highlights the ability
of Autopulit to deliver belt grinding for weld
dressing, nishing and paint preparation
solutions. An almost limitless combination
of axes, consumables and handling set-ups
