Pixel perfect
Many stadia all over the
world currently use video
security equipment from
Dallmeier and its patented
Panomera multifocal sensor
technology. The advantage
of this camera technology is
that the entire surveillance
area can be monitored with a
minimum pixel density. This
key parameter is defined with
pixel per metre (px/m) in
the DIN EN 62676-4 rule. For
example, a minimum of 250
px/m is required to identify
an unknown individual. At
Dallmeier, workshops are held
jointly with the customer to
define the security objectives,
a product requirements
document and a scope
statement are compiled,
which includes pixel density
requirements. Based on this,
Dallmeier’s 3D engineering
team creates a digital twin of
the stadium where the views
of Panomera cameras can
be simulated. This makes it
possible to know exactly where
the intended value has been
reached, and where it needs
to be improved, possibly by
changing the position of a
camera or replacing it with
a different model.

Intelligent scanning
Evolv Technology has developed the first
Intelligent Weapons Sensing System that can
scan visitors as they walk through naturally,
without the need to empty pockets or bags, or
stand in line. Evolv Technology is used at over
one hundred sites worldwide including Lincoln
Center, Gillette Stadium, LL Bean, and Oakland
Airport. Whereas a traditional metal detector
can only clear up to 300 people per hour, Evolv
Technology can clear over 800. By combining
next-generation sensors and software analytics
to intelligently detect weapons, the system gets
smarter with every scan.

The detectorists
An increasing number of stadia and sport sites
have introduced security controls to improve
fan safety and the gameday experience. CEIA
is a leading manufacturing company specializing
in the design, engineering and production of
metal detectors and electromagnetic inspection
devices. Combining safety and design, CEIA
offers an elegant and innovative elliptic column
style, currently used in dozens of stadia and
arenas all over the world. This elliptic column,
designed primarily for sheltered outdoor
venue applications, is sleek, unobtrusive and
lightweight, and due to its style, can also be
used in museums and theme parks. The CEIA
enhanced multizone walkthrough metal detector
is capable of detecting a large range of threat
objects, while at the same time eliminating the
nuisance alarm rate for non-threat items such
as keys, coins and belt buckles.
