“ Beauty can be found

Deconstructionist design
Schneller’s 2019 design collection, titled Deconstructionism,
is intended to change passengers’ personal experience by
modifying their perspectives. The collection is based on the
idea of questioning all traditional assumptions of construction
and perceived value by digging down to the raw base elements,
embracing natural imperfections and asymmetries.
The Deconstructionism collection is designed to challenge
conventional ideas about form and order, as if the designs are
trying to liberate viewers from preconceived rules. Layers of colour
and pattern have been combined with abstract geometric details,
meant to draw the eye from any viewing position. Through what
Schneller describes as ‘controlled chaos’, the company’s
designers hope to take you on an inspirational journey
of potential additions to your next aircraft interior, from
floor to ceiling. But be warned: the team says that it may
make you question assumptions and perceived notions
of cabin design,
while embracing
the beauty that
can be found in
imperfections and
asymmetry.
Schneller has also
partnered with Bruce
Aerospace, to create
a completely different
experience using cabin
and mood lighting.
SUEDE FEEL
Sherwin-Williams Aerospace has launched
Jet Suede, a two-component urethane topcoat
designed to enhance the feel of aircraft interior
surfaces with an upscale, textured finish. The
product is suitable for application on rigid
and flexible plastics and substrates, with
a durable finish.
Jet Suede is offered in low gloss, solid
colours, including an array of neutral colours
commonly used in aircraft cabins, while
providing an interior surface with stain,
abrasion and scratch resistance.
Jet Suede is appropriate for application by
both OEMs and MROs. While the expense
of replacing or repairing leather
armrests or cabin fabrics is
considerable, Jet Suede achieves
the same effect faster and with
less expense, with a 3:1 mixing
ratio and high-solids, low-bake
characteristics.
The flammability
qualities of cabin
materials can alter when
combined with other
materials. See p44 to find
out how materials testing
may change
INTERIOR COLOUR SELECTIONS TRIPLED
Sherwin-Williams Aerospace is
introducing a comprehensive
interior colour selection
programme to design specifiers
and paint shops. The Interior
Color Selector book and fan
deck set includes 107 colours –
almost three times more than
the previous interiors deck.
The new interior topcoat
selector and fan deck feature
the latest opaques, effects
and textures for all Sherwin-
Williams cabin coating systems
including JetFlex, JetFlex WR,
JetFlex Elite, Polane L and the
Jet Suede Soft Feel (see above).
New and unique interior
colours provide more choices
for interior airline designers,
from the latest bright whites
and neutral colours, to warm
hue effects. Each option offers
stain, abrasion and scratch
resistance for aircraft interior
surfaces.
For example, Jet Flex Elite is
an OEM-qualified paint system
for commercial and private
aircraft interiors. The system is
designed for a good appearance
and application, as well as
options as either a single-stage
interior product (for colours), or
a two-stage system (for whites
and light colours).
Designed to offer subtle
sophistication and mood
enhancement to aircraft
interiors, Jet Flex Elite colours
are responsive to LED lighting.
These coatings can be applied
to create a subtle glow in the
cabin, with highlights and
coloured shadows.
