Harper’s patented Panel Fastening System offers a
completely new, easy, and effi cient way to assemble
sandwich panels for aircraft interiors. The fastening
system was developed to address the challenges of
existing sandwich panel assembly methods, specifi cally
with a view to reducing labor and capital investment in
tooling and fi xtures. The panel fasteners are installed into
sandwich panels to provide rapid panel-to-panel fi xing,
allowing higher production rates and lower costs, relative
to methods such as panel pins, mortise and tenon/tab and
slot, and angle and inserts.
This family of unique inserts brings the effi ciency of the
furniture-in-a-box industry to aerospace, where sandwich
panel assemblies require no fi xturing or adhesives at the
assembly level. The Panel Fastening System enables
automation of panel manufacturing, pre-fi nishing of panel
sub-assemblies and fl at-pack shipping.
Harper panel fasteners can be custom made to fi t any
panel thickness, curvature, and mating angle for limitless
panel joint confi gurations for aircraft interior structures,
such as stowage bins, closets, lavatories, galleys, fi rst
class seat surrounds, crew rest modules, and anything
else constructed with sandwich panels.
