Modular RF telemetry processing
The new Slice6 Air data acquisition system from
Diversified Technical Systems delivers flexibility and
powerful new functionality for flight and aerospace testing.
Slice6 Air allows test engineers to measure analog signals
in locations that were not feasible with larger systems.
Measuring only 42 x 42 x 13mm with a mass of 50
grams, Slice6 Air is fully optimized for size, weight and
power (SWaP). Case in point, Slice6 Air modules can
be embedded in small UAVs and munitions or directly
mounted on helicopter rotors, without altering test
dynamics. Positioning the DAQ near the sensors eliminates
complicated cable runs that can tangle or cause issues
with signal or power drops. It also helps reduce set-up
time and makes it easy to support test modifications, like
additional last minute sensor channels.
Slice6 Air offers real-time streaming in IRIG (Chapter 10
or TmNS), as well as store-in-place recording
to onboard flash memory. It can be
used standalone, networked for
high channel counts tests or easily
integrated into existing Ethernetbased
flight test instrumentation.
The 6-channel unit
incorporates an IEEE 1588
compliant Ethernet switch that
allows PTPv2 daisy-chaining
of hundreds of channels per
test setup. Slice6 Air features
programmable sampling rates, full
signal conditioning and universal
support including full and half-bridge,
IEPE, thermocouples, RTD and voltage.

High performance
data acquisition
Dewesoft offers data acquisition systems for the aerospace
industry that is in telemetry labs around the world. From
standard data recording, structural dynamics, rotating
machinery analysis to a more specific application like ground
station solutions like PCM telemetry, Chapter 10, ARINC-429,
MIL-STD-1553 and iNet support. Dewesoft can directly connect
and decode data from these standard aerospace bus systems,
either directly from the aircraft or from telemetry stream. Each
channel from these interfaces is synchronized with other data
with at least millisecond accuracy. Simulation as well as data
transmission in real-time from analog data and other sources.
The use of Dewesoft and Clemessy combines the best
of both worlds: high-end DAQ capacity and control front
ends with efficient and full performance control-command
software solution. Dewesoft delivers accurate data acquisition
synchronized within at least millisecond. Clemessy, the
Eiffage Energy Systems brand, offers the control and testing
system combining supervision, real-time process control, and
physical hardware.
Dewesoft is part of the Ariane project, the joint European
mission headed by the European Space Agency to make a
reliable, unmanned vehicle providing access to space. The
high level of quality required by CNES and more generally by
ESA has increased the maturity and robustness of Dewesoft
and Syclone by Clemessy solutions for large test benches with
hundreds of channels.

Lumistar was founded in March 2000 by
a dedicated and experienced professional
staff of engineers and technicians with
backgrounds in the telemetry flight test
industry. The experience of the founders, more
than 100 years amongst the key personnel,
was obtained by hands on applications within
aerospace and range flight test applications.
Today, the company is still privately
held by some of the founders. Lumistar
designs, manufactures, tests and supports
a range of telemetry components, custom
systems and data processing software
for ground and airborne system
applications. The company produces
multi-band multi-mode RF receivers
and combiners, demodulators, bit
and frame synchronizers, decommutators,
DACs, data recorders, data simulators,
and test antennas; most all of which can
be seamlessly integrated in to a custom
integrated system based on customer needs.
Lumistar offers market-leading customer
support and training to all customers. The
company’s fourth generation of telemetry
products, the LS-28-DRSM Series, has
combined the entire product line into a
single hand-held modular unit weighing less
than 1kg. It can be said that Lumistar has
produced an entire telemetry ground station
that is 4x6x1.7in and consumes less than 50
watts of power
