ACOUSTICS
The interior topography was
optimized with acoustic
consultant Kahle Acoustics to
create natural acoustics with
early reflections. The hall also
has an electroacoustic system
to extend the reverberation
time for classical music
performances.
FLEXIBILITY
A retractable system enables
different layouts – up to nine
stepped rows can be retracted
under the main balcony, creating an
open space 12m (39ft) high, but still
offering seats in the balcony section.
SPATIAL PLANNING
The concert hall was designed by Studio
Seilern Architects to make use of a
2,000m3 (706,29ft3) underground space
that was originally earmarked for
conventions and other events.
To accommodate 663 seats and enable a
75-piece orchestra to play, part of the roof
was raised, bringing the acoustic volume
up to 5,340m3 (188,580ft3). The stage was
centralized to create a symmetrical space
that is acoustically optimized.
