One method to ensure expediency is to leverage
the standard analog system he knows will work
for myriad applications.
“It is very scalable,” he says. “I have both a
back-up system and a fully redundant power
supply for each, so if a power supply fails, we still
have the redundant PS-704 to power our system.
When we can get to the master intercom rack
backstage, it’s just a one-connection patch to
reroute to the entire back-up system. Then we
are back up and running with full power.”
IP systems
Analog intercom solutions work reliably for
Goodwin, but, if the budget allowed, he would
adopt an Ethernet-based IP system. Migrating to
IP can expand intercom channel density, enhance
