Move of the month
Naleena Gururani has been
recruited into the role of chief
people officer at Hyperoptic,
where she will lead an HR team
of more than 30 people across
the internet service provider’s
UK and Belgrade offices.
Gururani joins Hyperoptic
from telecoms provider Lebara
where she worked for 10 years
in a range of senior HR roles,
most recently as global HRD.
She also advises innovationled
start-ups in building people
strategies around change
management and growth.
I decided to make the
move because... Hyperoptic
has great credentials with the
potential and track record for
continued success. Plus it has
amazing founders and a CEO
with the people agenda right at
the top of her priority list.
I knew Hyperoptic was the
right place for me when...
I met colleagues, especially our
committed engineers who are
building a fibre network for the
needs of the 21st century,
delivering the fastest broadband
speeds in the UK. They are the
nicest brightest bunch of
individuals, with great passion
for the business.
I’m most excited about...
Building a people strategy that
will achieve the company’s plans
to deliver and disrupt at scale.
We are an organisation for
bright people who like a sense
of adventure and I hope to build
a people framework that makes
their experience worthwhile.
My biggest challenge in
the new role will be…
Ensuring our culture becomes
the backbone of the business.
It’s our greatest asset and
already something we are very
proud of.
The biggest lesson I’ve
learnt from my previous
roles has been... Growth is
not linear; it fluctuates and
managing change is key to
managing growth.
The toughest point of my
career has been...
Transitioning from a marketing
professional to HR. Only then
do you realise how much people
decisions matter.
If I achieve one thing in my
new role... It would be
creating an operating model
that ensures the best for its
people while delivering
significant ROI for the business.
