centrepieces of Volvo CE’s presence
at ConExpo in March 2020.
“We are aiming to create an
experience,” says Gallant. “It won’t
just be a parking lot of machines.
Visitors will see not only what we’re
doing and where we came from, but
what we will going to be doing in the
future. When you enter you’re pointed
to the new machines that we’re
launching – that’s the present – but
you’ll also get a chance to see what
we’re working on for future
generations such as electric
machines, and concepts, many of
which haven’t even been announced
yet. Expect a lot of exciting news.”
Stood next to the 950 will be the
R100E rigid hauler, a 95-tonne
machine with Tier 4 Final certifi ed
engine. With a size and capacity that
make it the largest vehicle in the
company’s line-up, the new R100E
promises to drive down operating
costs for customers by boosting
productivity, uptime and operator
comfort. It is powered by a premium
783kW, 1075hp Tier 4 Final engine
with a combined drivetrain to provide
high torque capabilities and
unparalleled pulling performance.
“The R100Es were built in Scotland
as a result of the acquisition of
Terex,” says Gallant. “The 950 and the
R100 will sit alongside each other on
the stand. Expect them to make quite
an impression.”
